Because we don't have time, neither my buddies nor I have ever conducted a Bible study. We frequently ponder on bible passages alone, without discussing them with others (we keep our own reflections to ourselves solely), and the idea of sharing our own reflections from several gospels has never occurred to us. We used an online Bible for this asynchronous activity and chose the reading: Abraham and Isaac from Genesis 22:1-18. After sharing our reflections, we took a picture together as proof of conducting the Bibliarasal.

As we discussed and pondered the gospel we had just read, I and my other friends talked about and questioned how and why Abraham so readily obeyed Jesus' command. The command was to sacrifice a human life, namely Abraham's own son, whom he had prayed to God to give him and his wife for a very long time. We initially felt Abraham's behavior in this gospel to be shameful and wrong, but as we've progressed through the gospel, finished it, and shared our thoughts on it, we've learned that Abraham followed Jesus because he has so much faith in God.  Another common and clear remark about the gospel that we all agreed and made mentioned in our reflections is that Abraham is an obedient man with a strong trust and faith in God.

Abraham had no second thoughts or skepticism when God put him to the test and urged him to take his son, whom he loves (with God emphasizing this), and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on a mountain. He didn't ask why God had ordered him to do this, what will be the consequences or benefits once he follows his order, and he did not ask even if he may have questions in mind. Without ifs, ands, or buts, he got up and loaded his donkey and took his son and two of his servants with him the next morning. While telling my friends about this reflection, I tried to put myself in Abraham's shoes and thought of my possible reaction if God put me to this kind of test. If I were a father who had waited a long time to have a child only to learn that I would have to sacrifice him in the future, I would have doubts and might even debate or quarrel with God. I will ask Him questions as to why he would give me this kind of task even if He knew that I've always wanted to have a child with my spouse for a very long time.

To be frank, I don't think I have the courage to sacrifice my child even if it takes me every single wonderful reward in life.  During the biblical service, I also asked my friends for their sentiments on this, and some of them also had their own doubts and worries.  Nevertheless, we regard and aspire to be like Abraham for putting so much faith and trust in God.  For our last reflection on this gospel, we saw how Isaac simply submitted himself to his father, Abraham, and willingly lied down on the mountain. With Isaac's actions, we've realized and can say that both the father and the son have faith. Abraham has faith in Jesus, believing that after sacrificing Isaac, God will raise his child from the dead, whilst Isaac has complete faith in his father. With this gospel, we've also come to the conclusion that one of the characteristics that a family should possess is the type of father-son relationship that Abraham and God and Abraham and Isaac have.
