The Taliban in Afghanistan Essay Sample

Based on what is happening in the Afghanistan culture, society's perspective has changed as seen through religious beliefs and war.

In 1893, Afghanistan was experiencing a divide between their religions. For example, “The religious diffrence between the Pashtun’s  and Hazaras is primarily that of the conflict between the Pashtun’s and Hazarazs sections of Islam” (Found in “The Great Divide” slideshow, slide 2). The religious beliefs between Pashtuns and Hazaras are very different. The Hazaras emphasized Muhammud, while the Pashtuns followed Pashtunwali codes. The Pashtun covered the majority of the Afghan population with 85% of the population following the Pashtuns religion, but the Hazaras covered 15% of the population believing and following in Muhammuds way of life. Represented in “The Great Divide” “The break between the Pashtun and Hazaras occurred because the Hazaras wanted the caliphs of Muhammuds bloodline, while the Pashtun referred to the rule of Consensus and order” (Located on slide 3 of “The Great Divide” slideshow.) Pashtuns were followers of a more ancient religion and Pashtuns followed a Tribal code, while the Hazaras were followers of Hazaragi and followed the Shi’ite traditions. The Pashtuns emphisized the Quran text which was known as “The Sacred Scripture of Islam” while the Hazaras focus their attention on the Tawart text which is known as “Torah in Islam”.

Afghanistan was being torn apart by religious stripes between the Pashtun and Hazara beliefs.

The 20 year war in Afghanistan might be coming to an end, But worry lies ahead for many Afghan citizens.

For instance, Patrick Smith states “The 23-year-old boy worries about what’s to come for his nation.“ there’s no hope for the future“ he says. “ Afghans are leaving the country. I don’t know if I’m going to be safe 10 minutes from now” (Patrick Smith, “The War Is Over” page 1, New York Times, September 20, 2021). The United States pulled troops out of Afghanistan allowing the Taliban to take over. Afghans have begun to leave their country in fear of what’s to come for them. The Taliban, which was a militant group, defeated the Afghan government forces. Which allowed them to capture all of Afghanistan in clued in the capital of Kabul. Another account by Patrica Smith states “ Women Could not hold most jobs. They were forced to wear a head to toe covering called a burger in public, and were in fear of how they would be treated”. (Patrick Smith, The war is Over page 2, New York Times, September 20, 2021). Women in Afghanistan were worried they would lose their progress in society. In some locations, the Taliban has already outlawed girls' education. Women’s rights we’re improving for 20 years, girls and women accounted for 40% of the Afghan undergraduates, and have served with the military, police forces, and an office, but all of this is in jeopardy, and fear strikes that things will revert to how they used to be.

 The conflict is nearly finished after almost 2 decades, there's so much for Afghanistan’s citizens to be worried about.

Similar to Afghanistan, the United States experienced war due to what happened at pro harbor.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military attack by the Japanese Navy, and Air services upon the United States Naval base in Hawaii. Just before 8 AM on December 7, 1941 the attack started. The Japanese had intentions destroying and damaging as much of the US Navy and supply boats as possible to prevent them from sending resources to England helping them during World War II. The attack caused the United States to join the war to get revenge on Japan. (Japanese relocation during World War II).Because of the attack from the Japanese army, the United States was forced to join England and France and fight against Germany and then Japan in World War ll . The United States during the war and they wanted to get payback on Japan for the loss and devastation they caused.

Religious beliefs and war has changed the culture and society for many other countries besides Afghanistan around the world.
