When something bad happens on news do you think that the perpetrator did something bad because of video games or do you think that they were mentally unstable when they did it? You probably don’t jump to conclusions and blame it on one video game. The following information uses sources from reliable sources to prove the point that aggressive video games do not contribute to real-world violence.

“Violent video games and young people,” by Harvard heath publishing, displayed that aggressive video games do not contribute to real world violence. The author states, “association between violent video game use and school shootings, noting that most of the young perpetrators had personality traits, such as anger and aggression, that were apparent before the shootings and made them prone to violence” Some researchers say that since young kids take characteristics from things they stay with long enough, even though there is no information that connects video games to violent behavior. The evidence from “Violent video games and young people” state that, “Federal crime statistics suggest that serious violent crimes among youths have decreased since 1996, even as video game sales have soared.” This shows how video games don’t have a big relationship with crimes with young people.  This supports that there is no association between violent video games aggressiveness.

“It’s perverse but also pretend.” by Cheryl Olsen uses evidence that shows just how violent video games aren’t always the perpetrator of youth violence.  The article states that, “But despite parents’ worst fears, violence in video games may be less harmful than violence in movies or on the evening news.” This means that in the news very bad and more graphic stuff happens and unlike video games at any time in video games you can turn off at any time and not miss anything in the games, but on live TV you have to watch it then or never. Also we know virtually nothing, for instance, about how youths who are already prone to violent behavior, such as those exposed to violence at home and in their neighborhoods, use these games. This means that people that have done crimes may have already been treated unfairly.

Now that you have seen from reliable sources that video games are not always the cause of the effect. We learned that violent video games can be stopped at any time and are unrealistic enough to know the difference between video games and real life.
