Do you think violent video games contribute to real world violence? Some people that have played violent video games before have been proven to act aggressive and mean towards things and what they do. This shows that violent video games do contribute to real world violence.

One reason is that some of the mature games that kids are playing contain things that are too graphic and can lead kids into violent behavior. For example in the source “Do Violent Video Games Contribute to Youth Violence” it states that two teenagers were recently arrested for shooting and killing people who were driving by and that they got that idea from GTA 3 and thought that it was okay. If people start to think that doing illegal actions in violent video games is okay then the consequences of these actions could be threatening and may cause permanent damage to young developing minds. Not only  are they putting their own lives at risk they are putting the lives of others around them at risk as well. A study done in 2011 in the source “Do violent video games contribute to youth violence” states that when kids are playing violent video games they are becoming less emotionally and physiologically responsive because their brain and the amplitude of their emotions are getting short and long term affected. An example of this could be when a child is playing a violent video game he becomes addicted to it and wants to keep doing the things he does in the game over and over again so he starts to become unresponsive to the natural effects that are becoming a threat to him. Another piece of evidence is that parents have seen a rapid ace of anger and violence from playing video games and the parents can’t control what their kid can and can't do in a game so they have to just hope that they aren't doing anything harmful as well as when kids would play outside the neighborhood adults would look out for the kids and report what they did to the kids parents and discipline them properly but if they are inside they can't see what they are doing.

Another significant reason that violent video games are contributing to real world violence is that studies have been proven that kids who are playing violent video games at a young age are more prone to cyberbully or get into physical fights. This is proven by the source “Do Violent Video Games Contribute to Youth Violence”. “The American Medical Association have done studies on kids who have played M-rated games and kids who have played M-rated games and have come to conclude that 60% of middle school boys and 40% of middle school girls who played at least one Mature-rated (M-rated) game hit or beat up someone, compared with 39% of boys and 14% of girls who did not play M-rated games because they haven't been taught or shown physical aggression towards others.” If this rate of aggression continues to increase then the acts of daily life that we normally treat will become chaotic and our economy will plummet in social media and online material. Another important piece of evidence is from the source “ Do violent video games contribute to youth violence” it states that “As many as 97% of U.S age from 12-17 play video games contributing to the $21.53 billion domestic video game industry. More than half of the top 50 best selling video games carry violent and graphic content”. If more games that have violence in them start to go up on the ranks on the top selling video games then more and more kids will start to buy it cause they will think that since everyone plays it that they will enjoy it and then they will start to get hooked on the game and start to become violent and do harmful things in and outside of the game. This will cause a huge outbreak of violence and harm because everyday more and more people either buy a game or an item to play the game with so they can do more things and be able to see more violent content that is violent.

Although some believe that violent video games does not contribute to real world violence because it allows kids to control their emotions and behavior, that's not true because in 2014 a study was done that states in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that habitual violent video game playing had a causal link  with increased, long-term, aggressive behavior. Several peer-reviewed studies have shown that children who play M-rated games are more likely to bully and cyber bully their peers, get into physical fights, be hostile, argue with teachers, and show aggression towards their peers throughout the school year. This shows that violent video games don't help kids control their anger and emotions, it makes them want to physically harm something or someone because they get the actual emotion of doing something in a video game then when they do something in real life.

In conclusion, violent video games do contribute to youth violence. Whether it's from watching the game or playing the child is still getting information out of the game.
