The United States was imperializing in the late 1800s and that allowed us to sell our surpluses and secure many territories such as Samoa, Midway Island, Alaska, and much more. We also started trading with other countries such as China and Japan. The United States was justified in imperializing because of the Panama Canal, Surpluses, and more land. These reasons will show that the U.S was justified in the following paragraphs.

Fundamentally, one reason the U.S was justified in imperializing was because of the surpluses. Surpluses allow us to obtain new raw materials and new markets. At this time we needed the money for our military and to gain new markets and raw materials. That is why we went to other countries and asked for a trade proposal. We were justified because wanting new things and trading with other countries on an even footing is fair and justified. As a result of this we were able to establish friendships with these countries and have them as allies in this time period. Surpluses are additionally a great way to make money as I previously stated. This money allowed us to establish bases and coaling stations and lastly allowed the economy to stay stable. And every country wants their economy to stay stable so that is my first reason why the U.S was justified in imperializing in the 1800s.

Subsequently, the second reason the U.S was justified in the 1800s is because of the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal is a canal that runs through Central America and allows the saving of 8000 miles or 5 months of time from New York and San Francisco. As you can tell this Canal saves a ton of time and every country would want that. The U.S obtained the Panama Canal by helping Panama acquire their independence and then Panama leased it to us. The U.S is justified because they helped them acquire their independence and then bought the land from them to build the canal which helps trade and selling of the surpluses. That was my second reason why the U.S was justified in imperializing in the 1800s.

Furthermore, the last reason the U.S was justified in the 1800s is because of obtaining more land.  More land is where we merge and acquire new territories. This allows us to build new things where the land is. One example is military bases. This significantly helped us in the world wars by us being able to receive supplies there and refuel. This is important because without it we would be forced to pay other countries for supplies and refueling which loses money so we can’t spend it on other things like a better military. More land also allows us to expand our cities and towns. Most countries want their people to live happily so that is another reason why the U.S was justified in the 1800s.

You might argue that the U.S did not need land, the Panama Canal was not necessary, and we did not need the money. If we did not need the land we wouldn't have been able to be a world power because we wouldn't have the naval bases and coal stations. This also saves money so we are not forced to pay other countries for the fuel and supplies. If the Panama Canal was not built we would have not been able to trade faster, thus losing money and it allows us to trade more effectively by shortening travel time. We also helped Panama earn their independence so that is another reason why the U.S was justified in Panama. If we did not have the money we wouldn't have been able to obtain a better military, new markets, and new raw materials. The military allows us to be a world power and keeps our people safe. The new markets allow our things to be more diverse and lastly, the raw materials allow us to make new things that might not be found here.

Because of the Panama canal, surpluses, and more land, the United States was justified. As I mentioned we needed the money from the surpluses to build things for our countries such as the military and cities. More land also allowed us to build more things for our country and expand our cities. It also allowed us to build bases and coaling stations in the ocean. This was useful for our country because it allowed us to become a world power by helping us with war by being able to acquire supplies and fuel our ships on the way so we do not pay other countries for fueling. That was why the U.S was justified in imperializing in the late 1800s.
