Why Is College Stressful Argumentative Essay

You should be stressing about college and here’s why. College is absolutely terrifying and nobody’s talking about it. There’s so much added stress put on you. Just think about it. You have so many responsibilities that come with going to college, you have to figure out a way to pay for your college, and you have to have somewhat of an idea of what you’re doing with your life. 

Now onto my first point. You have to be responsible for an alarming amount of things. School is already somewhat stressful at times, so just imagine what it’s gonna be like in college when you have to manage so much more to do, independently. You have to apply for loans, manage your bills, go to work, and do countless other things. Not to mention, you have tons and tons of school work, tests, finals papers, you name it. 

After these 4 years of absolute torture, you have to make the difficult choice of going into a profession with an extended college year requirement and get paid more or to stick to a job with a less paying but hopefully sustainable job. It’s a difficult choice, as it’s very easy to be impatient and feel the need to get a job quickly. This temptation is the reason why not as many people choose to go into these extended careers.

College is so unnecessarily expensive. Depending on what college you go to, you could have to pay around 30, 40, and even 50 thousand dollars a year. And this doesn’t include textbooks, supplies, clothes, food, rent, or anything else you might need to survive alone. This is probably why 65% of students graduate with debt. The dropout rate for college students due to finances is around 56-59% of all dropouts. This is no surprise. The amount of outstanding student loan debt in the United States measured from 2020-2021 is 1.57 trillion dollars. .” If that isn’t scary to you then I don't know what is. 

Lastly, you have to figure out what you have to do with your life. After college, university, medical school, whatever it is your doing, you’re gonna have to find a job. And depending on how sought-after your job is, it can be pretty hard to find a well-paying job. 

I would just like to specify that just because college seems stressful, that does not mean you shouldn’t at least try it. It’s not just college but the unavoidable problems that come with it. Although it is stressful, college ultimately teaches you important skills and prepares you for your life as an adult. I hope I made you realize how much you should be stressing about college and all of its lovely amenities.
