Why Ottawa University Is The Perfect School For Me

When visiting the campus of Ottawa University, there were many things that caught my eye. When I first walked into the admissions office, I was greeted with a pleasant, very kind, and comforting atmosphere. As a person who has a difficult time reaching outside of my comfort zone, the feeling of the room made it easier for me to openly communicate. One of the biggest things that I look for in a school is diversity. While on the campus tour, I was pleased to see many people of different ethnicities. Seeing diversity on the campus gave me a little more comfort.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Coach Henderson, and some of the female team members. Coach Lacy has a real bright personality that I was drawn to. I saw the way the girls talked to her, they seemed to have respect ,and really like her. She told me about the way she coaches, it reminded me of the way my current wrestling coach coaches. She said she wants the team to have fun, and they do, but they also know when it's time to work. I really like this mindset of the team. A good team connection is important to me, a team that feels like a family. I definitely saw that with the group of girls I met that day.

The best part of the tour for me was the conversation I had with Professor Pilar Galina-Abal. She explained to me how she operates her program. She told me she finds it important to have an active and lively class. I enjoyed hearing about her outlook, her history, and how she built the program. She was very open and honest, and definitely not afraid to speak her mind. I loved how involved she is with the students, encouraging them to receive the best grades they can, and helping them toward that goal. Prior to meeting her, I heard only good things, and now I truly understand why. I believe that she is a truly brilliant, respectable , and strong professor. With her guidance, I have no doubts in my mind that I will flourish as a student.

Ottawa University has three of the top things I strongly look for in a school, the right major, diversity, and a women wrestling program. I believe my time at Ottawa University will help me grow, improve as a person, athlete, and student.
