Many young adults do not know how to survive adulthood. They need to learn certain things to prepare themselves for future references such as living on their own. Parents should do everything they can so they can learn from them and be able to do it themselves. A way parents could help prepare them is by giving them chores to do around the house. Doing chores helps teenagers learn responsibility, how to be independent, and learn how to be organized. Beresin states “In addition, they enjoy the pleasure and great satisfaction in taking care of themselves and others." It also makes teenagers feel they are growing up and preparing for adulthood. For example, when I finished all my chores and did more than what I was supposed to do, I always feel good about myself and always think to myself that I am ready to face anything once I live on my own. Most teens nowadays think that chores are for maids and that they shouldn't be doing chores because they are wasting their lives. But in reality, they just want to be on their phones or just watch Netflix. But since COVID-19 has invaded the whole world, being quarantined should be an advantage to parents because their kids can not go out. So there is more time to be at home and help around.

Teaching teens responsibility is important because their parents are getting them ready for the real world. They also should know that their actions have consequences. For instance, teenagers need to be able to manage their time. Managing their time helps by having their chores and homework done by a certain time so at night time they could have their good night's sleep. “...allocating time to each item from your to-do list, and then scheduling those tasks on your calendar.” is another way to manage time by having things in order. Another example would be holding accountable for their chores. Making sure they are complete before the day is over. For example, when their teenagers' chore is to wash their school uniforms but they forgot to put them to wash, they have a hard time finding clean clothes for school. Once they get used to it, it becomes a routine for them, and they achieve what they want faster. Teaching responsibility helps their kid succeed in life. Studies show that kids who are taught to be responsible happen to succeed more in life.

Young adults being independent is very important they make their own decisions. Hisham states, “they are now self-sufficient and on their way to a life separate from family.” It's their teen years, where they are growing up and going away to college and soon living on their own. They need to be prepared for what is coming their way. They have to remember to do their homework more than their parents asking if they finished it. Being independent also boosts teens' confidence because they don't have anyone permitting them to do what to do therefore, they realize they can do things on their own.

Lastly, being organized is another thing chores help with and it helps make life easier. There are so many chores that one person can have. For them to be complete by the time they need to be is stressful but not if you have them organized. For example, if you need to water the grass you should water it when it's either in the morning or in the evening. Then throughout the day teens can organize when to do the other chores that need to be done. There is an old saying that a cluttered mind makes you have a cluttered life. Being organized also helps mentally. For example, it helps relieve stress and teenagers seem to be more stressed than most people because they're getting ready to go to college and taking all these tests. With chores, they learn how to organize them, and getting used to organizing their responsibilities prepares them for the future.

Unfortunately, many parents don't force their kids to take responsibility around the house. They think that kids should be kids and enjoy life while they can. The Alternative Daily states, “The simple request by a parent for a child to clean up their room is often met with whines, grumbles, and bargaining. These reactions can be so exhausting that many a tired parent will choose to give up the fight.” Teens arguing with their parents is also another reason why they just decide to not tell them to pick up after themselves. The parents do not want to argue about picking up after themselves so they just let it be. Another reason why is that they get stressed with homework and chores. If they have a job, that is another thing to add to their plate. It is a lot of pressure for just one person.

In conclusion, young adults should have chores to do around their home to get through life. It helps them to become the best person they can be. Being responsible, independent, and being organized helps with surviving adulthood. In the future, newer generations will be more headstrong because they helped around the house with chores.
