I Think You Should Be Responsible, I'm Not So Sure”, Gordon D.Marino Article Analysis (Essay Example)

In “I Think You Should Be Responsible, I'm not so Sure”, Gordon D. Marino argues that  we don't have control over our lives.This makes me understand that  Marino believes that we are limited with the choices we make,and that the circumstances of our lives affect our choices.I think we are free to make our own decision because no one is able to choose your destiny , only you know what is the right to choose and what is not, and lastly it's your decision how you will face and manage obstacles.

I disagree with marino’s assertion that we don't control our lives because others can’t make or choose your future for you because they aren’t going to be living it for you.The quote “The lives we lead suggest that we have complete control over our lives (Mariano)” it states that we have complete control over our lives and no one can tell us contrary. An example is my cousin Juan who likes music and would love to have a music career and enrolls into college,but his parents think and want him to become a Lawyer.Adding to the example, the Juan knows becoming a lawyer isn’t what he had in mind and thinks he wouldn’t enjoy  it ,so he chooses his path and continues his music career,and become successful because he choose the career he wanted to fulfill in the future.This shows that Juan was able to choose and control what he wanted to do with his life.

Additionally,we can do what we want,right or wrong.Your responsible for making choices in your life that could impact you for the better or not.A quote from the article “ ………… each individual is solely responsible for what happens to him or her (Mariano)” the quote states that everybody including all genders are responsible for the decisions they make and choose.For example, if one day you decide to rob or do drugs that is your choice ,but one day that same exact thing that you did might cost you and it will probably catch up with you to the future.Adding to the example imagine you get caught and taken to jail there is no way of you becoming clean without it showing back up one day on a job interview which decreases your chances of getting a good paying job.

Furthermore, you're able to choose if the obstacles you will face in life will stop you or not, and how you will manage them.Being able to choose if you want to advance or to stay behind a limit is one’s choice and no one can tell you otherwise .The quote “The circumstances of our lives can make it more or less impossible to make certain kinds of decisions (Marino)” it states that their will be obstacles in life and they can limit the decisions you make ,but that doesn’t mean they can’t be solved.An example ,is a student who’s job becomes an obstacle that keeps them from completely focusing on their education and from being able to achieve getting a better paying job ,but their decision was to try getting as much school work done before their shift and finish the school work in the early morning.This showed that she choose to not let the obstacle stop her and that she was able to managed it.

In conclusion ,I disagree with Mariano's statement that we don’t have control over our lives because no one decides your future , only you know what is right for you and what is not, and only you choose how you face and manage obstacles.
