Truth Teller Should Be Included in the Pilgrims Progress Argumentative Essay

Christians long and tiresome journey to the King was well worth it. Although I do believe that incorporating a new character named Truth Teller would have made the trip less difficult. Truth Teller is a wise, experienced, and most of all a truthful Godly, gracious guide. Truth Teller is a vital character that should be included in the Pilgrims Progress for three reasons: Truth Teller assists and encourages those courageously seeking the King to remain on course, He would refute the lies and impenetrable doubts that plague the pilgrim’s mind. Finally, Truth Teller would warn and equip christian for the battle against false doctrine. 

The first reason Truth Teller is an extremely vital character is that he would come along so that those valiantly seeking the king would remain on course, consequently, Christian was persuaded to leave the course, which many times led to destruction. Truth teller would keep christian on the path by removing the distractions that were in the path ahead. Additionally he would input the Word of Truth from the King, which comforts those seeking Him. lastly Truth Teller will guide Christian through the land called Faithfulness of God which shows christian that the Lord is always with him.

The second reason Truth Teller is a vital character is that when doubting thoughts entered the pilgrims mind Truth Teller would boldly refute those thoughts with words of encouragement, therefore, Christian had many thoughts of turning back because of fear of what was ahead, but Truth Teller would accompany him through those times of needed perseverance. Truth Teller encourages those who are becoming weak on their pilgrimage, furthermore, he reminds them what the Celestial Kingdom is like. Truth Teller would quote Deuteronomy 31:8 “ The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be  discouraged.”

The third reason Truth Teller is a vital character is that he will unwaveringly battle against those of false doctrine, although Christian faced many who tried to shortcut the way to the king and whose doctrine was false, Truth Teller would be there to teach Christian to realize those who are misleading in their doctrine. Truth Teller would always be quoting scripture that contradicted the words of those of false doctrine, therefore, he would keep sound doctrine in the minds of those seeking the king. Christian would be learning the ways of the lord through Truth Teller and he would immediately learn that the words of those not seeking the king are false and he should flee. In Deuteronomy 18:20 it says: “ But a prophet who presumes to speak in My Name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.” This verse would compel christian to stay far from those who speak falsely.

Truth Teller is a highly vital character that should certainly be included in the Pilgrims Progress because he would come along so that those faithfully seeking the king would remain on course, when doubting thoughts enter the pilgrims mind Truth Teller would refute those thoughts, and Truth Teller will battle against those of false doctrine.
