“Dreamers,” is how people who immigrate to the United States are cataloged. Everyone has heard of the American dream which is people immigrating from their native state into the United States looking for a better life. Because of this dream, the United States has developed an act to help individuals who illegally come to this country, The Dream Act. Through this act illegal immigrants who came to this country as a child are able to legally live in the United States. The DREAM Act should be expanded in the United States because it will improve economic stability, help young immigrants, and build a multicultural country.

It is significant to define The DREAM Act since it is something that has helped numerous people who immigrate to the United States. This act consists of giving residence to a person who illegally immigrated to the United States as a child. These kids can’t form a normal day-to-day life due to their unfortunate position. In other words, they can’t attend college and finish their studies, nor get an exceptional job since nowadays achieving a satisfactory position of employment is strongly demanding. However, The DREAM Act is the way out for all these people. To put it in another way, this act helps those now young adults who have certain requirements to finish their education and legally live in the United States. In fact, they are given a conditional residence and after a while a permanent residence under the condition of joining the military or attending college. With this stated, people can now assume the enormous effect continuing this act can bring to the country.

Extending The DREAM Act will have a positive effect on the economic balance. Every country primarily focuses on how a new norm will affect the economy before officially stating it. Indeed, the United States didn’t stay behind when announcing The DREAM Act and anticipated the achievement this act will have in the United States’ economy. According to a White House article, “Students that will be impacted by the DREAM Act could add between $1.4 to $3.6 trillion in taxable income to our economy over the course of careers, depending on how many ultimately gain legal status” (As quoted in the ''The Dream Act”). To explain, immigrants who will become part of The DREAM Act will be able to achieve a superior status position which is why they will have a stronger income. Therefore, a more significant amount of taxes that they’ll have to pay. If the number of taxes acquired in the United States grows, the economy will increase; consequently, it will positively improve the country’s stability. Moreover, it will lead to a better community since the country would be able to provide their citizens a more satisfactory place to live by giving them an upgrade in public services such as education and health care. With that being said, The DREAM Act will cause an improvement in their community due to its profit growth.

Young immigrants need help from the government to achieve a plentiful life which is why The DREAM act is essential when mentioning this conflict. A perfect example is the immigrant caravans that come from Central America to the United States. Those caravans are not just adults looking for the American dream but also kids who are doing what their parents are asking them to. Follow them into a new country. To put it in another way, those grown kids are not responsible for the unfortunate circumstances they are found in. These young individuals are living the life they were given. They didn’t choose to be born in the country their parents had to leave behind to accomplish a comfortable life. Additionally, if they want to be someone in life and finish their studies or even a more outstanding act, fight for the United States even though they are not citizens because that is where they consider themselves after that country saved them from a poor living. The most convenient and intelligent decision for the government to make is to give these individuals the opportunity to improve professionally which as I mentioned before, will end up benefiting the country. All this shows that The DREAM Act can have a major impact on people's lives.

The DREAM Act has a vast amount of advantages for illegal immigrants, yet it also positively improves the United States by making it a multicultural country. Different perspectives are significant when debating something. According to Hult, “Diverse teams are more productive and perform better” (Reynolds). In other words, creating a team of people with distinct thoughts helps achieve greater development since different points of view will be discussed on a certain topic. This demonstrates that being a multicultural country does have its benefits. People all over the world grow up with different values, some more emphasized than others. For this reason, some members will mention certain points other teammates won’t pay close attention to; consequently, the team will be able to further improve the project and with this develop a more effective performance. This is why when making teams with members with distinct backgrounds such as culture, the group will eventually lead to following the best decision. In short, The DREAM Act helps the United States accomplish more cultural variety; therefore, a country that makes better decisions.

Expanding The DREAM Act will eventually lead to a decrease in professional labor for American citizens. In NPR, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, a longtime opponent of the policy, declared that DACA “denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same illegal aliens to take those jobs." To rephrase it, when the illegal immigrants are given their residence, they are able to finish their studies; consequently, achieve professional status, and with this obtain high-level employment. With this quote, it can be supported that the jobs might reduce due to The DREAM Act which opens doors for immigrants to become professionals. However, this is not fully true since, by nature, everyone looks after themselves. For example, the owner of a company desires to employ the most professionals for his business since these capable employees will guide the company through the right path; therefore, the company will successfully succeed. In other words, if a United States citizen and a resident apply for a job, and the resident is the chosen one, it was most likely because he or she had a greater professional preparation which means that the citizen wasn’t ready for the challenge and responsibilities that job requires. For this reason, The DREAM Act does not decrease the jobs in the United States since every individual is responsible for professionally preparing themselves and earning a high-level job.

To the United States' fortune, the country has a major way of increasing its economy, rescuing immigrant kids who have grown up in their country, and raising its cultural diversity by continuing The DREAM Act. Even Though this act might look like a threat to United States citizens, it actually an incredible help to make positive progress in their country. Since as I stated before, these people immigrate to the United States with the purpose of a better life. For that reason, they come with a large enthusiasm to improve their living and therefore make a positive change in their now living country, the United States.
