The Global Conflicts in the 20th Century History Essay Example

The global conflicts in the 20th century has shifted the ideas of the world considerably, with events like both of the world wars and the great depression, as well as many other smaller but important wars. While the 20th century has created mass destruction from the wars, it also was a century for innovation and new technologies never before seen. The global conflicts of the 20th century also involve every country in the world and every country has been affected both culturally and socially by regime changes and more rights and new freedoms for more people in the world.

During the Great Depression and World War II, most countries in Europe and Asia were authoritarian, like Germany, Russia, and China. Hitler wanted to first instill the idea that Jews were the people that messed up society and made them lose World War I, and then they tried to execute all of them so that their ‘evils’ are not spread. Right after World War II, European dictatorships fell and had to clean up the damage done there, and then they would adopt western principles in Europe.

During the Cold War, Russia and the US were competing against each other in technological advances, and so engineering and science schools started to spring up across the US. China also changed throughout the 20th century by starting the century out with the Qing dynasty, and then going through and being pressured to adopt western ideals while also trying to keep their traditional views. Then, throughout the Cold War, they adopted communist ideals and revamped everything they had to represent some ‘red’ throughout their country. Vietnam was also trying to change, with Ho Chi Minh trying to spread communism over all of Vietnam while southern Vietnam wanted to be democratic. The Cambodian genocide also shaped things as Pol Pot also wanted to have a regime change by taking away any western stuff and throwing in only communist ideals in his country, which resulted in mass executions, especially those who were smart. Governments actions in global conflicts, especially with the rise of new technology and new ways of communication, they have more control over the information to the public in the 1990s than the control they had in 1901.
