The French Revolution was successful because of the changes that came over time and the new ideas that were brought to the country. The revolution was based on many tragic events, but as a result it created more equality and the world changed for the better. The French Revolution was successful because of the transformation of inequality and the change of political rights.

The start of the revolution was caused by a revolt against the government by the people in society. This event was called the Storm of Bastille that occurred in 1789. It was a chaotic time for society that resulted in King Louis XIV getting overthrown and the start of the French Revolution. There were four stages of the war, but the directory stage was where the revolution had started and conflicts were occurring. France declared war on Austria, Prussia, Britain, Holland, and Spain which was important because war means there is going to be conflict between the countries and changes occurring like gaining land and power. This was an opportunity for France to gain more power and create an impact on their country. Later in 1973 Louis XVI got executed and he was an absolute monarch, so the country wasn’t going to go through with the French revolution if he was still in power. In 1795 the churches reopened and it created more stability for the country because the church used to have the power, but now they were just influential in the government. The wars occurring, the reopening of the church, and the exiling of Louis XVI all significantly changed France during this time period.

The last stage of the French Revolution was the final part of the changes awaiting. A new ruler was introduced to the country named Napoleon Bonaparte and he was an emperor. Napoleon made significant changes to the country such as promoting nationalism, organizing the country, creating a stronger military, and equality for the third estate. He supported the revolution, and he created new laws based on people’s new ideas. Napoleon’s ruling was supported by the people because before King XVI was an absolute monarch that wanted to be the greatest in his country, but now there was a ruler that was rational with his ruling even though he was an absolute emperor. Under the rule of Napoleon Bonaparte there were laws created that established equality for all and not just for the emperor.

The French Revolution had many challenges along the way, but it achieved one of the main goals by providing equality for the third estate. This class was the most impacted by the revolution and it was the time for change. Before the revolution France was a country that had no freedom of speech, rights, or equality, but with the influence of Napoleon, France was transformed into a stable country. The revolution was a period of conflict, challenges, and achievements, but in the end it resulted in a better society for the French and the world we live in today.
