The book Lord of the Flies by William Golding is about a group of young English boys who got stranded on an island and have to take it upon themselves to survive. The group started off working together to find a way to be saved, but they soon turned on eachother and violence hit the island. The boys didn’t really get saved because their society collapsed and they got rescuded by a navy seal officer who will only bring them back to war which resulted in the book being hopeless.

As the boys spent more time together on the island, the faster their society began to collapse. “We did everything adults would do. What went wrong?” (Golding ?). Piggy was aware that the boys had the ability to keep their society together but the build up of bad actions concluded in their society collapsing. At the beginning of the novel the boys agreed on one leader, Ralph, and came up with a list of rules to keep them in order and hopefully get rescued. The boys were young and under no “offcial” authority which resulted in them acting out and rebelling against the rules and leader they agreed on. The first bad event that happened which started to pull their society apart was Jack not agreeing on the plan to use the signal fire. Ralph, the leader, was trying to get the boys to use the signal fire to hopefully get passing boats to notice and come save the boys. Not long after some of the younger boys in Jack's hunting tribe killed Simon, one of the oldest and realistic boys from the group. This resulted in the boys totally splitting into two groups. The divide caused the tribes to go against eachother and more violence started to occur. Jack and Roger, two of the main boys on Jack’s tribe, kidnapped Sam and Eric and killed Piggy with a rock. Very soon after, it was Jack’s mission to kill Ralph by putting the whole island on flames. The massive fire got a boat's attention and all of these events ended up in the boys getting rescued.

In the novel while the boys were stranded on the island, there was World War II going on back on land. After the fire that Jack created to kill Ralph spread, a passing boat noticed it and came to see what was going on. The individual who came to the rescue happened to be a navy seal officer who would only be bringing the boys back home to war. Throughout the novel the boy's mission was to be saved and brought back to safety, but they will only be going home to continue fighting an ongoing war. Going home in these conditions will only make the boys feel more hopeless. “The tears began to flow and sobs shook him” (Golding 224). Ralph was overwhelmed by the idea that the nightmare he was living would be soon over but what he hasnt realized is that he will be going right into another nightmare.

In conclusion, all the unfortante events that happened in Lord of the Flies, including the soicety collasping and the navy seal officer only bringing them back to an onging war, the novel is hopeless. A series of escatlaing events caused the boys society they created to quickly diminish and totally fall apart. The whole time the boys were on the island, they wished for a happily ever after of being rescued, but they are only going home to continue fighting for their lives.
