Intro

Today, I am arguing for the fact that Deandre Hopkins is the best wide receiver in the NFL. Before being injured in week 10, he had the best stats in the league. To compete for the best receiver in the NFL, Deandre Hopkins will need to beat Tyreek Hill, Cooper Cupp, and Davante Adams. In this Debate, I am going to be proving to you that this very talented athlete is the best receiver in the American Football League.

Injury

In the NFL, injuries happen all the time. Every game, someone gets hurt. In 2021, during a Week 13 matchup, Deandre Hopkins injured his knee and after already sitting out for weeks 9-11 matchups, Hopkins was injured for the rest of the season. Hopkins has also been playing the season with a hurting rib cage, which meant he couldn't play his best Football. The Cardinal's record at the end of the season was 11 wins and 6 losses. When Deandre Hopkins was playing, the team had a record of 8 victories and 2 defeats. This shows that 75% of Arizona's wins have been with the NFL’s best Wide Receiver.

Comparison

Before Deandre hurt his knee, he was having record statistics and was ranked the best receiver in the NFL. If he wasn't injured and had been playing healthy, he would have had even better stats. Davante Adams of the Green Bay Packers and Tyreek Hill of the Kansas City Chiefs had 800 receiving yards in the time that Deandre played. Cooper Kupp of the LA Rams had 900 receiving yards, also in the time that Deandre was playing. Well, you might be saying, “Well, Deandre Hopkins only had 500 yards during that time. If you think about it, the Cardinal's receiver would only be able to play at half his ability. This means that since Deandre was out for half the season, mathematically, he would end up with around 2000 receiving yards. Hopkins would then surpass Davante with 1800, Cooper with 1900, and Tyreek with 1200 receiving yards.

Jalen Ramsey

Jalen Ramsey is one (if not the best) defensive player in the NFL. He has been matched up against so many receivers. On the podcast “Million Dollaz worth of a game” Jalen Ramsey listed the best receivers in the NFL that he has been against and put Deandre number 1. He said, “There are some receivers who you’re like, ‘Dawg, without that quarterback, I don’t know if he could do what he’s doing. Or without that connection, I don’t know if he could do what he’s doing.’ He was in Houston, he had like 1,000 different quarterbacks, and he was putting up numbers, every year. Then he had Deshaun (Watson) for a couple of years, and he was putting up crazy numbers. Then he got Kyler (Murray) and put up crazy numbers again. So it’s like… I’ve got to respect that."

Conclusion

So after talking about all this and debating over the best wide receiver in the NFL. I think that it’s safe to say that Deandre Hopkins is the best WR in the league. If he wasn’t injured and was able to play at his full capable ability, D-Hop would win the offensive player of the year instead of Cooper Kupp. In the National Football League, there are a lot of great receivers, but there is no one as good as Deandre Hopkins.
