Wonder by RJ Palacio Book Analysis

Have you ever heard of a story called “Wonder?” It is a book by RJ Palacio that was made into a movie. Anyone who peruses this book and then observes the motion picture will see that there are numerous things that are the same in both, but there are contrasts as well. Both the book and the motion picture are engaging despite the reality that they are not precisely the same. Wonder was first released as a book in 2012 and made into a movie in 2017. 

The first detail that is only in the book is a very big one. In the book Auggie has hearing aids, And he only has hearing aids in the book. This is important because in the scene at the nature retreat with the 7th graders bullying him and his friends he loses the hearing aids in the book and spends a lot of time looking for them. In the movie though, this doesn't happen since he doesn't have hearing aids. Another detail that is only in the book is Auggie gets a new dog after Daisy dies. This is also a pretty big detail, since it is about his dog. In the book, after Auggie got back from the nature retreat, his parents and sister got him a new dog. They named him Bear. In the movie this never happens.The third and final detail I'm using is when Auggie and Jack want to be friends again. In the book they message on facebook text. They use a different program in the movie ( which will be talked about later ). In my opinion the movie left out some pretty important details, but the movie also had some unique details that were not in the book. Let's see the differences.

The first detail that is pretty important is at the start of the movie Auggie has flashbacks to his birth. This shows what happened when he was born. In the book, this doesn't happen. Another detail which I kinda talked about earlier is when Auggie and Jack want to be friends again. In the book I said they used facebook texts. In the movie they use Minecraft chat. This isn't that important in detail but I think it was better than the book. The final detail that I am using is around Halloween. Daisy, Auggie’s dog throws up on his Boba Fett costume. Again, this isn't very important of a scene but this didn't happen in the book. There are many differences between the book and movie Wonder, but there are also similarities. 

The first detail that is both in the book and movie is the ordinary intro. The ordinary intro is where Auggie talks about how he is an ordinary kid, but since he looks different people don't see him as ordinary. This is a very important detail that shows how Auggie feels. Another detail that was in both the movie and book is when Jack punches Julian. This shows the connection between Jack and Auggie since the reason Jack punched Julian was because he was making fun of Auggie. In both the book and movie the Pullman’s dog Daisy dies. This is a big part of the story because this makes the Pullman’s very sad. 

As you can see, there are numerous likenesses and contrasts from the book and motion picture "Wonder”.
