The choice of abortion has been a highly debated subject for centuries but may be more prevalent now than ever in history because the social and political landscapes have changed to give women more rights and freedom than they had in the past. Abortion should be a choice that women have due to an economic, social, religious, and emotional situation.

Here we discuss why women should have the choice of abortion due to economic circumstances institute for women's policy research discusses how the legalization of abortion led to an increase in education attainment “Abortion legalization in the 1970s increased Black women’s rates of high school graduation and college attendance: in states offering access, high school graduation increased by 1.3 percent, college entrance by 3.7 percent, and college graduation by 9.6 percent.”

Similarly, another quote indicates that access to abortion had led to higher workforce participation. “Abortion access increased women’s participation in the workforce overall, increasing the probability of a woman working 40 weeks (about 9 months) or more per year by almost 2 percentage points (from 29 percent).”

Then in another quote, it reveals that women who had access to abortion when they did have children those children had a better quality of life “Abortion access not only had economic effects for women exposed to reforms, but also for their children. As for abortion reduced unintended births, cohorts of births were more likely to be planned. These improved educational and economic outcomes, both during childhood and later in life.” In summary, this shows that when women have free access to abortion it leads to a better future for them, and if they choose to have children in the future, they will have a better future also.

Here we explore why women should have the choice of abortion due to emotional and traumatic circumstances on websites like end sexual violence shows that the trauma and loss of power from the experience of “the torment caused by the loss of power and control over one’s body one’s most intimate self-that is at the heart of sexual violence.” How can you expect someone to raise a child born from an experience like that?

Similarly, another quote shows that laws have been passed to give rape victims freedom of fertility” A narrow exemption for “forcible rape” fails to address the reality of women who become pregnant against their will. At the very least, such an exemption must include all cases of rape. Congress and the federal government should cease using the term “forcible rape” in any context, including abortion legislation because the term limits our understanding of both the nature and extent of sexual violence in our nation.”

But now with current events such as Roe. V. Wade possibly being overturned by the supreme court could change everything making it abortion inaccessible for women who need so if this could jeopardize their future this could negatively affect their future so we should fight to keep women’s right to abortion.
