"I don't think I'll ever understand who I am." Ari said. "Well, if you ever want to know more, just ask me." Dante responded.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be gay in a world that does not acknowledge this form of love? Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World tell that being gay is the mystery that Ari and Dante discovered in their world. Ari has invested most of his life drifting into the backdrops, but when he meets Dante, everything changes. They continue to conserve their relationship despite a world that does not accept they should. Along the process, Aristotle unfolds to open himself up and establishes longtime friendships that help him fathom that he was never entirely alone. Dante, his parents, and acquaintances encourage Aristotle to overcome the lengthy secrets underneath him. They also aid Aristotle in overcoming one of the most momentous life-altering occurrences of his life. As a coming of age in the '80s and early '90s, and the societal influence it caused worldwide, Aristotle stipulates the tumultuous world in the historical context of the AIDS outbreak while trying to rediscover himself.

Now, if ever I have the chance to respond to Benjamin, it will be, "I grew up having my mother and sister addicted to books; I have never understood the gist of books. Not until I started reading an actual book, and sure, I read fiction, those that are published online, but never a physical book until recently. With your book, I realized that love is something that you would never know when to come and who it will be, and when it comes, not even the world will stop you from loving, and I think that is the most beautiful thing."

Of course, if I would suggest this, I would say that this is a slow burn, I tell you, but knowing yourself takes time, doesn't it? Nonetheless, it shows a realistic portrayal of members of the LGBT community, particularly gays, knowing that the author himself is gay. Additionally, the protagonists tackled racism; the novel brilliantly explores the essence of racism and delves into what makes someone a racist. The book enabled me to ponder significant subjects and why people treat people the way they do; yet, the novel's heartfelt theme—that choosing to love once more could save us from ourselves; so it might as well for you.

So, briefly, I will affirm in a heartbeat that this is one of the best novels I have ever read. Even if I am still reading it, I know that this book is one of the prettiest and most heartwarming slice-of-life novels. I will say that it may be bland at the start but wait until Dante shows up in Ari's life and see how he goes from black and white to a rainbow, literally and figuratively. It portrays the beauty of falling in love for the first time—how scary and magnificent it is all at once.
