This play will prove that being in love with someone will mess with one’s mind and make one’s decisions be changed. In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there are two families that despise each other. There is a daughter from one side named Juliet and a son from another named Romeo; these two fall into a deep romance that makes this play satisfactory and honorable. In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the character of Romeo proves that love drives one’s choices. Love makes one's decisions be changed to make another person happy and bending the rules and sneaking past the eye may be one of them. “I’ll go along, no such sight to be shown, But rejoice in splendor of mine own” (Shakespeare 1.2.7-8) This proves that love drives one’s choices because Romeo agrees to go to the party and try to get with Rosalina at a party that he wasn’t invited to. Another example of his choices being driven by love “Thy exchange of thy love's faithful vow for mine” (Shakespeare 2.2.134) In this scene and act he is proposing his love for Juliet and beginning their marriage, these two have known each other for a very little amount of time, and they are already marrying each other, which is proving that he rushes into things. Romeo makes impulsive decisions with girls and with violence. Love can drive one’s decisions to do wild things that none can expect and killing a person is one of them.“This shall determine that” Tybalt falls (Shakespeare 3.1.138) In the scene Tybalt figures out that Romeo is in love with Juliet and vice versa, Tybalt does not agree, and he kills Mercutio which drives Romeo's love, passion, and anger to lash onto Tybalt, and he kills him. “Wilt thou provoke me? Then have thee, boy” (Shakespeare 5.3.70) This scene and act proves that love drives one’s choices because Romeo went to kill himself over thinking that Juliet was dead and Paris was in his way and wouldn’t let Romeo in and Romeo's fire, affection and pure love for Juliet drove him to kill Paris at the door of the tomb. Romeo's decisions whether it be rushing into relationships or violence he still has himself. Love has a crazy way of making choices for a person and death might be one of them. “I pay thy poverty and not thy will” (Shakespeare 5.1.80) In this scene and act Romeo proves my theme because Romeo is going through the heartbreaking experience of him believing that the love of his life has died, and he can't bear the feelings that he is going through which drove him to buy poison from an old and poor apothecary that needed the money. He was driven to buy the poison because the love of his life in his mind has died, and he wants to be with his love. Another piece of evidence that supports my theme. “They drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (Shakespeare 5.3.120) In this scene and act Romeo is on his deathbed with the love of his life Juliet. The girl of his dreams that he has married fake killed herself to try and sneak away from her family, but it went south when the letter about the plan didn’t reach Romeo. He killed himself to try and be with Juliet because the Love, passion and heart-burning emotion he had for Juliet forced him to end it all over her. Love makes people do crazy things and killing yourself over it is extreme but realistic. In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the character of Romeo proves that love drives one’s choices. By rushing into relationships, Showing his love by killing people and killing himself. Why does this matter, People affect one’s choices it's a part of the brain, and people are forced to do it without even knowing? Make choices for oneself and not for one another.
