Dehumanization In Night Essay Sample

In the novel “Night” by Elie Wiesel, Jewish people were dehumanized. The Nazi’s dehumanized Jews. They're segregated, took things, and divided. Then, Furthermore, they were separated. they were dehumanized by separating them from the Jews; the Nazi’s created a group called the ghetto.

Moreover, the ghettos separated each other from the Jews.“But, as it occupied a corner, the windows facing the street outside, the ghetto had to be sealed”(Wiesel, 11). This event shows that they separated from the Jews because the Nazi’s sealed them from the Jews, they wanted to isolate and keep the Jewish people preoccupied. Apart from this, they were also dehumanized by giving them the “Yellow star.” “Every Jew had to wear the yellow star”(Wiesel, 11). This event shows that every Jew needs to wear a Yellow star which is called “The Star of David.” The star was intended to humiliate Jews to mark them out for segregation and discrimination. Apart from this, they were also dehumanized at the camps.“A starred stomach. The stomach alone was aware of the passage of time”(Wiesel, 64). This quote shows that they were starved to death at the camp. Others they’re shot, worked until death, were gassed and even killed in medical experiments. The Nazi’s treated them. Horribly. Clearly, they were dehumanized by separating them from the Jews; the Nazi’s created a group called the “ghetto.”

As well, the Jews things' valuables were not taken with them. Moreover, the Jews valuables were not taken.“The street resembled fairgrounds deserted in haste. There was a little of everything, briefcases, bags, knives, dishes, blankets, papers, and portraits.”The Nazi’s, want to put their things away and they want to go without their things. Besides their things, they also lost their homes. The war also fundamentally reshaped local communities as the remaining houses, land and other assets changed owners.
