To be a brown color is a blessing and curse. Although the color of your skin is different from everyone else, we all still the same human being regardless the skin. African Americans being called black, brown, or an Afro-American. DuBois express how himself and others of his kind experience hatred around the world. There is no ideal place where a brown color person would be treated equally to others. Non-brown color people looking at us with a disgust face when one walk by. Also disrespecting and degrading all because they feel entitled knowing nothing is going to happen to them. Young boys and girls being taught this behavior is going to impact them when older. On the other hand, the blessing of being a brown color person is it can make you strong and resilient because it shows the person overcame the challenging journey that most couldn’t survive. Proving that just one person can make an impact to push the others to follow those same footsteps. To become colored isn’t necessarily being brown. There are different types of colored groups which you can be white, brown, yellow, or pale. The term “colored” can have more than one meaning, but a few will think of a brown person. A person can’t choose the color they want to be in life.
