Do gender stereotypes limit our power and potential? This topic has been going on for a while all around the world, especially in the United States. There has been a great change in this topic when seen, mostly in texts and literature. When seen, in books for children we see that books depicting women have changed while books which also/may depict men have not been changed. Men are then limited to a set of items because of stereotypes.

When looking through essays we see that women's stereotypes have been altered and changed from being given the stereotypes of staying at home and cooking to them being changed to doing the same items men are doing in stories, especially in kids books, but when we look t the other gender, male, we see that there stereotypes havent been changed, they have been stuck to the same angry and mad dads which know nothing about a child and are known as hunters and killers and in some areas they are considered complete loons (maniacs) which is not suitable when compared to the changes made for women in these kids stories/books. This has been further proven by a person who found/took twenty kids book and started reading through them only to find out that, four of the twenty books show that fathers do not take care of their children, six of the remaining show only one parent which are all moms and out of the twenty only three show both parents as equal parents.

This effect has not only happened to children's book but also to books for adults who may be soon to be parents, according to a person, out of multiple books about parenting, most of them were only for women and how they are powerful and tips for them but there was no mention of what men were and tips for them and out of multiple books, only a few of then had a small area for men, typically three to five pages compared to five plus pages for how women had a lot of powers with tips along for parenting. This is not acceptable in today's society which has greatly progressed throughout time, everyone is supposed to be treated equally, not just towards a specific side.

This isn’t for men only but for women also, women are limited in power and what they can do since from childhood they are taught rules slowly which fixes their mind on a specific area, there has been a text where it is clearly stated and shown the rules that a women may receive as they grow older. Even though it may not have a great effect in the beginning, it may impact life onwards. But what I notice is that there is a lot going on in the world to clean up these stereotypes of women staying at home being changed to them going to work and other stereotypes which have either transformed or full-on removed, but in terms of men cooking and being stay at home dads, it is still seen as something bad in the broader perspective of the public.
