There is no doubt that the amount of free time kids have can be a bless to them due to the ability to develop such important skills and building a great personality, I am inclined to believe that parents should have a role in guiding their kids how they should spend that time efficiently to benefit the most from it, and I would like to discuss that in the following essay.

First, every kid nowadays in schools is blessed to have the opportunity to spend long days of summer without worrying about any exams or homework. However, this time of the year should not be taken for granted as it must be spent in a way which can have a positive impact on him. One of the things that parents should  do is to influence their kids to practise sports and be engaged in some physical activity. Kids usually nowadays like to spend their time watching cartoons and playing video games. Moreover, they tend to see that physical activities are a waste of time as they are only running around just like what they were doing in the playground at school and this is when parents must play their role. Influencing children at that young age to be committed to doing sports and having a healthy sleep pattern to be able to go to the club everyday in the early morning can have such an enormous and influential effect on their body and mental state. In addition to that, the communication skills developed during their time of practice will be an extra boost to their character during their time of adulthood. Many papers have indicated that children who are engaged in physical activities in their leisure time have shown much more social skills than the kids who didn’t. If parents have not played a role in persuading and planning these activities for their kids, kids would not have been doing this on their one.

Secondly, we must keep in mind that young children deserve  peaceful moments in their leisure time and not to pressure them to do extra homeworks or read books they are not interested in. However, kids who take some extra steps to learn a new language or spend their time trying to figure out maths puzzles will always have an advantage in their academic performance during the school times. For example, I remember when I was 11 years old my father brought me a collection of CDs to learn Spanish. Although I was extremely tired from my time at school and I have plans to spend my time in summer playing nothing but Call of Duty, I spent everyday with these CDs learning new words and sentences that I have no idea about. When I got back to school I noticed that the Spanish classes were extremely easy and manageable to me. I didn’t study much because I was already familiar with everything from my time studying in Summer. If my father did not bring these CDs to me, I would not study Spanish on my own of course.

In conclusion, parent must let their kids enjoy their free time of course as they may be drained and overburnt from schools, but that doesn’t meant that they have no role when it comes to influence them to spend their time in pursuing activities that they will be benefited from them when they grow up.
