The prestige play, Romeo and Juliet by a renowned playwright, William Shakespeare is about two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Two young lovers who fell in love at first sight; they went through many challenges and experiences, and all this ended with death by suicide in the same grave. Romeo and Juliet’s whole lives were defined by their family’s feud. From the beginning when they found out the other’s name their entire relationship was bound to end just as a result of it. Every main character in the circle all play a major role in their deaths. The problems these characters caused added extra pressure to their relationship such as: arranged marriage, Mercutio’s death, Tybalt’s death, constant adult interference, their lies, bad luck and bad decisions. In fact, there are barely any characters that did not play a role in their suicide. In spite of that, Romeo would be at the top of the list of those to blame, even for his own death.

To begin with, Romeo was the beginning of the entire situation. He went to the Capulet’s party to get his mind off Rosaline but instead forgets all about his love for her one he sets his eyes on Juliet. He gets in trouble with Tybalt but he did not see it fit to leave in order not to cause a commotion  Romeo stayed behind stalking Juliet until he finally got her in a private room. Romeo was impulsive and fluctuating. His friends were bad influences and they all loved causing trouble. They were constantly fighting . He killed Tybalt because he did not control his emotions. This was his fatal flaw, which was significantly expressed when he fell in love, and married Juliet a day after they had just met. “Have you given up so quickly on Rosaline, whom you loved so much? Then young men love with their eyes, not with their hearts. Jesus and Mary, how many tears did you cry for Rosaline?” Friar Lawrence noticed that he changed his love for Rosaline to Juliet in a little amount of time, and scolded him for making such rash decisions. At first the Friar did not want to get them married in a hurry but eventually gave in to attempt to end the Montague Capulet feud.

Romeo may not have started the conflict between both families, but he was aware of it and still decided to go along with his plan to sneak into the Capulet’s party uninvited. He knew it would provoke them if they found out, but he was too stubborn to accept that he was wrong. Romeo was surrounded by friends with similar personalities, thereby no one persuaded him against it. His stubbornness slightly rubbed off on Juliet, for example during their encounter on the corridor when Juliet said “If they do see thee, they will murder thee.” then Romeo replied “Alack, there lies more peril in thine eye Than twenty of their swords: look thou but sweet, And I am proof against their enmity.” Romeo does not want to leave although he knows he will be killed if caught, Juliet also mentioned it but he is headstrong and dives head first into relationships. When he meets Juliet he falls in love and marries her in less than a week, he barely knows her, or had an experience in a relationship with her, but he goes ahead and marries her. When he finds out of her death he kills himself by poison. He doesn't think through before taking action, he lacks foresight

In final analysis, Romeo’s hasty actions drive the play into more tragedy over and over again. He influences their death greater than any other character. I believe he should have a consequence for all he is responsible for. I understand that they are children that make mistakes. They fell in love the first day they met. Their hormones were so huge that they could not control themselves. Romeo originally did not want to fight Tybalt but in the end he was angered and overcome by Mercutio’s death and then got himself exiled. Every event in the play is associated with Romeo.

In conclusion, children are told to listen to their parents and their advice that they know and have experienced a lot. Parents try to make decisions for the best interest of their children,Romeo did not listen to advice given to him.If he had never gone to the party they would not have met. Romeo was impulsive and made Juliet do things too fast. She was too blinded by him and loyal. If he  had not wanted revenge on Tybalt he would not have been exiled and Julie would not attempt suicide. She would have done anything for him, even if it harms her.

Everyone has a right to give an opinion, people may not agree with who I blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death, but Romeo is a major candidate as the above reasons stated. In summary, Romeo and Juliet were young victims of an unfortunate family feud that lasted for an unreasonable period. In the end the pressure of society from their families and those involved in the drama, their friends, the Prince,Friar Lawrence, and everyone in the end partook in the interference of these children’s lives but Romeo made the worst choices for himself that affected more than himself. He willingly pursued Juliet knowing it was toxic for the both of them.  My argument of Romeo being in the wrong is equally as right as another argument.
