In the movie, Dead Poets Society nonconformity is shown. Both Neil and Keating rebel to listen and accomplish what others want them to achieve. In the movie, Neiland and Mr. Keating proceed against something.

Mr. Keating happens to rebel towards doing what others are doing and staying quiet. For instance, in the movie, Dead Poets Society Mr. Keatings is a non-conformist towards listening to others’ opinions and trying to fit in, John Keating says, “No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.”(Dead Poets Society ) Keating is trying to say that no matter what anyone thinks if there’s an idea so great, it can cause a great change. Such as protesting against something that can cause a change for the worst or for the better to happen such as BLM, women’s rights, etc. Moreover, Keating expresses that a person’s thoughts are a person’s thoughts and not others, and choosing a path not taken before can make an impact, Keating states, “Now we all have a great need for acceptance, but you must trust that your beliefs are unique, your own, even though others may think them odd or unpopular, even though the herd may go, “that’s b - - a - - d.” Robert Frost said, “Two roads diverged in the wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”(Dead Poets Society )This quote is revealing that going against what everyone usually does can make a difference. Just like when immigrants come to the US to make a difference for themselves or their families to live a better life instead of staying in their home area with immensely poor life. To conclude, In the movie, Dead Poets Society Keatings is a non-conformist toward those following a path already taken and staying silent, and not speaking up.

Neil shows nonconformism when it comes to his parents' decisions for him. For example, Neil knows what he desires to do in his life and he won’t let anyone stop him, Neil exclaims, “For the first time in my life, I know what I want to do! And for the first time, I’m going to DO IT! Whether my father wants me to or not! Carpe diem!” Neil is refusing to obey his parent’s commands and wants to be a freethinker. He wants to be free and do what he loves with a passion. (Dead Poets Society ) Furthermore, Neil oughts to live deliberately and live the way he desires to, Neil says, “I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of my life… to put to rout all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”(Dead Poets Society ) Neil wanted to live freely and thought he was but when he comes close to death he realizes it was all kept away from him. This happens with parents that always like to choose decisions for their children and how they believe they should live life. In concussion, Neil does not agree with the life his parents want him to live.

In the movie, Dead Poets Society nonconformity is shown by the actions and thoughts of two characters. Both Keating and Neil show nonconformity. Keating is against following the path in life that makes you “normal” and letting someone else's words impact you from making a difference. Neil rebels against the life his parents want him to live and is told how he will live his life. Both characters Keatings and Neil perform non-conformity in the movie, Dead Poets Society.
