There are at least 2 people who like you in the world, crazy right. Meaning that they do have the same facial feature.  They may have the same facial features as you but maybe not the same personality. If they had the same personality that would be cool. Well to me Richard Etheridge and Tucker don’t look alike but they do have a few things in common. Richard Etheridge and Tucker are alike because of their background, and their personalities and abilities, also their challenges that they faced and their accomplishments.

One way Richard Etheridge and Tucker Wills are alike is that they both have come from similar places. In'' Saved from Disaster,'' Kristen Lewis talks about where Richard Etheridge is from and how he has grown up by a lake. In addition to that when Lashua Mae was talking about Tucker she talked about where he comes from as well. In the text Lewis states that Richard Etheridge was born,”near the water, fishing and boating, and knew the tides and currents well” To add more information to that in “Into the storm,” Lashuana Mae says that Tucker.,” grew up in Morehead City, North Carolina,” and also the author worte “liked to fish on the little pier alongside his house” From this evidence here it shows you that these two people both grew up by water. They have lived by it when they were growing up. They also knew the ocean really well too. Growing up near the water must have its advantages so these two people both had a lot of things they could do instead of staying inside and doing nothing. I know that they both also had a thing for fishing and that they were very good at fishing and swimming as well. This proves that Richard and Tucker had things in common.

Another way Richard Etheridge and Tucker are alike is that they have almost the same personality and ability. Richard Etheridge and Tucker are both strong swimmers and they also have a determined attitude. In “Into the Storm,” The author writes about Tucker saying,”"He could swim like a fish and surf," and “"Etheridge's team charged into the churning ocean waters in the middle of the hurricanes-risking their lives," This helps the reader understand that they are both good swimmers because first Richard Etheridge and his team risked their lives to save others in the water that was dangerous, and they still made it out. Richard must have known that his team was good enough to go into the dangerous water because if not, he would have never sent them out. Also Lashuna Mae also said that Tucker could swim like a fish so he was a good swimmer. When she described him as a fish when he is in water I feel that she could have meant that Tucker was one with the ocean when he is swimming/surfing. Also these two people were both determined. You really can see and understand that Richard is determined because in the text it says,”Because a man named Richard Etheridge was determined to save them," and,"He'd have time to bring the guy's raft back to him and then head in," Both of them are very determined. It says it loud and clear that Richard was determined and was going to save them. With Tucker you have to look at it from the point of view that maybe some other people will. Tucker thinks that he can come back so he is determined to. Tucker says in his mind that there will be time to save him. Some people may think that Tucker was just gonna let the man stay in the water and drown, but from the reader early on in the story you can understand that Tucker will never do that. Tucker probably will feel bad if he did let the man drown, and like I said he is one with the ocean anyway. This is another way that shows how they are similar.

My final way to show that Richard and Tucker are similar is due to the fact of their struggles and challenges that they both faced. Richard was a black man in a world that only accepted whites at that time. This was hard for Richard and was not treated fairly. In the text it says,”".....discrimination against African-American remained strong ," Richard was not treated fairly because of what skin color he was. His “team” left him (the whites) so he only had a whole black team who supported him and wanted the change. The fact that the white people left him just proves how cruel the world was just because of the color of his skin. Tucker was also judged in his life but maybe not for his race all of the time. Tucker was bullied because he was black and he liked to surf. I guess they did not like how good he was at it so they tried to put him down, but it did not really work. That is what Lashuna Mae said.  He was judged because of his height. Kids will bully him because he was shorter and just not as tall. These kids will call him mean names. In the text it says,”"Kids called him Squirt,Shrimp, and Inchworm," He was bullied because of his height which is not fair. He was treated unfairly because of the fact that he was short. At least Richard did teach them that the color of your skin does not matter. Richard was treated unfairly just because he was born with more melanin/color than having less melanin just because Richard's ancestors did not move up.

In conclusion of all of the evidence that was shown here today, you can agree that Richard and Tucker have a lot in common because of their background, and their personalities and abilities, also their challenges that they both have faced and their accomplishments as well. Even though Tucker and Richard may have differences they still do have a lot in common as well. These people were able to do good in this world. So that means that anyone can do good if they try.
