In William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Juliet was a 13 year old girl who was in love with Romeo. However, Juliet knew they would never be together because their families were in rivalry. When Romeo kills another man and is banished she has to deal with the family talking about marriage. Juliet was supposed to marry a man from another family but she didn’t want to. So instead she temporarily dies from  ap;oison she bought and when she wakes she sees Romeo is dead and she decides to kill herself to be with him forever. Some people believe that the story of Romeo and Juliet is a romance. Others believe it is tragic. However, I believe that Romeo and Juliet is a little bit of both because they loved each other, they were willing to fight for each other, and they died for each other.

Romeo and Juliet is a classic story about two people who are in love, and in the end die because of suicide. The reason I believe that Romeo and Juliet is both a romance and tragic is because their love for each other was so strong but didn’t end in a good way. I do believe that romance was shown in Romeo and Juliet because they loved each other. Even though they were so young they knew that they loved each other and to anyone who read the story it was clear their love was strong. On the other hand, their love might be seen as too strong because they couldn’t live without each other.

When Romeo and Juliet met it was very romantic. However, it did not stay that way. Romeo and Juliet had to fight against their families so that they could stay together. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare really captured the arguments between the Montagues and the Capulets. For some reason, even though they are so similar, the montagues and capulets are battling a lot in the story because they despise one another. Romeo is angry at Mercutio's death and decides to go after and kill Tybalt, when he does he is banished. This just proves that the families hate for each other ran too deep for love to stop it.

After Romeo is banished for killing Tybalt, Juliet is still arranged to get married to Paris. However, Juliet is secretly engaged to Romeo, so she can't marry Paris. After Romeo leaves, Friar Laurence gives Juliet a potion to make her seem dead. When Romeo hears that she has died he goes to her and kills himself right beside her with his own poison. After Juliet awakens and finds Romeo dead she takes his knife and stabs herself in the heart. This is why I also believe that Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy along with it being a romance.

In conclusion, after reviewing the story of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, I still believe that the story is a romance and tragedy because they did truly love each other, but in the end love was not stronger than death. I believe that the reason Romeo and Juliet is considered a classic is because the story is a detailed and necessary read for all ages.
