In Lord of the flies by William Golding, people are influenced and irrational in times of crisis so they get aggressive, the mob mentality was savagery. Jack uses his facepaint to silence the good in him, and enable him to be ruthless and shameless so he can kill a pig and feed it to their group, Jack also cuts off the pig's head as an offering for the beast. Nobody on the island was fit to be a leader besides piggy. The whole time piggy had the most leveled head with decent ideas compared to Ralph and Jack.

Subsequently leading to Ralph's downfall, piggy was suggesting good ideas such as making a shelter instead of using the group's idea of making a fire and almost burning down the forest to possibly alert someone not even guaranteed but you can’t blame them because at the end of the day they are still kids, later on, in the story, everyone ended up siding with jack because all Ralph did as leader was point out what to do but had no reason why he was the leader he also never proved any given reason on why he should be leader, the kids never questioned any of Jacks orders or thought to themselves that what they were doing was wrong.

Hence, in chapter 11 piggy was killed by a boulder, and Ralph was ordered to be killed without any thought. They went searching for Ralph and even made signals for each other to get the job done efficiently. On page 22, Roger says that they should vote for a leader. Ralph got elected but that's because he was one of the oldest, while piggy was assigned to looking after the young ones and where they were and how many there were of them at all times made him stressed out and he eventually had enough and spoke his mind because of unfair treatment but he never got his word across because they didn’t care.

For example, Jack bullies Piggy and always ignores everything he has to say even like how he snatches the conch from him when it’s his turn to speak. Jack is Mean, Self-centered, and arrogant. They probably lost hope in escaping and started going crazy, getting desperate so I believe people are influenced and irrational in times of crisis so they get aggressive.
