Among children under the age of five, thirty percent have been murdered by their mothers. Mothers who committed neonaticide were typically younger and unmarried. Caylee Anthony’s death was unexpected and many did their best to get justice for her. Casey Anthony received several death threats after being found not guilty of murdering her two year old daughter. George Anthony mistreated Casey as a young child which has triggered her mental illness, Casey’s mother, Cindy Anthony stood by and allowed it to happen over the years.  In 2011, year, mother Casey Anthony was acquitted of the first-degree murder charge of her daughter, leading to a the moral devastation of America and making Casey a pariah to parenthood.

Caylee Anthony was murdered and remains were found and mother, Casey Anthony, was found not guilty. Caylee Anthony is reported missing after not being seen for almost a month and her mother Casey returns home without Caylee and her mother Cindy Anthony reports her granddaughter missing. The car that Casey returned in had an odor of a dead body. Caylee’s remains were found near the Anthony residence by a utility worker. Caylee’s remains were found near the Anthony residence by a utility worker after grandfather, George Anthony, had found her in the pool dead. There was a high amount of chloroform that was found in Ms. Anthony’s car. During the hours George and Cindy weren’t home, there were searches of “head injuries”, “ruptured spleen”, “chest trauma”, “internal bleeding”, and “chloroform” that were found on the Anthonys’ home computer. There were 7 women and 5 men of the jury who took almost 11 hours to come to the verdict of not guilty for the charges and misdemeanors. Casey Anthony would be sentenced to 4 years of giving false information to the police and child neglect and also fined $4,000. If she had been found guilty with more solid evidence, she would have been given a death penalty.  Ms. Anthony was made about to be one of the most hated people in the media during this time. George Anthony is the first witness to take the stand in court and immediately denies all accusations of sexually abusing his daughter, and is no longer brought up after the first trial,”George was reportedly ‘under the influence of medication and alcohol’ and was taken into custody after a suicide attempt in a hotel in Daytona Beach, Florida with a five page suicide note, which lead to him being questioned by police,” ( Tim Ott). While in custody, George Anthony explains that his daughter is innocent and his granddaughter accidentally drowned, he also confessed he helped cover it up. Later that year, on December 11, 2008, Caylee’s remains were found in the woods not far from her grandparents’ home. There isn’t a proper cause of Caylee’s death, but investigators still question if she was murdered or if she actually drowned by accident.

Casey Anthony had the media and the people who agree to disagree with her actions and behavior during trials. Casey Anthony becomes a known name around the world as she changes perspective on mother/daughter relationships. Casey Anthony is neglectful of her child and murders her to regain freedom of her old life. Casey along with her daughter Caylee goes missing for nearly a month and comes back without her daughter and evidence finds that there was a decomposed body in the car with Casey. Jurors don’t know why she did it, but she was showing signs of being mentally unstable. Ms. Anthony creates controversy when during the trials she is giggling in court. Being a good and attentive parent is important to the public & the implications are that the public will be hypercritical of parents involved in the death of their child. The Defense of court allowed Ms. Anthony’s lies and gave the consequences for Casey’s behavior with reason,” it is believed that Ms. Anthony’s abnormal behavior was caused by her being sexually abused by her father and she was coached her whole life to lie,” (Alvarez). Defense claimed that alongside Ms. Anthony’s behavior, the family as a whole seemed to have dysfunctional behavior in all. Unfortunately, prosecutors were unable to provide any clear testimonies or solid evidence that could prove that Ms. Anthony was an unfit or negligent parent. The lead attorney, Jose Baez, explained how Ms. Anthony had taken the blame for her fathers actions regarding her daughter, Caylee Anthony. Jose Baez also accused prosecutors for “relying on faulty science” to prove whether his client was guilty or not, “Jose Beaz reminded and pleaded jurors keep their emotions in check during deliberations, ‘this case should not be decided for or against anyone because of pity or anger towards anyone’, Baez adds to prevent any biased decisions”(Alvarez). Jose Baez became one of the most important people that Casey Anthony could rely on and trust that there would be the right outcome of her trials.

The media became obsessed with the trials of Casey Anthony and that’s all that anyone spoke of for a long time after. Many people were upset that Casey Anthony was found not guilty and didn’t recieve the death penalty. People/society should care about this event because it shows that the murder of a child is one of the most horrible and unforgiving events that can occur, and the public will relentlessly fight for justice for a lost child.  Society becomes more adapted to what’s around them and there are those who accept the changes and those who  believe in things should stay the same. There are many more people like Casey Anthony, men and women in the world, and it's important to know that not every child can be saved from each situation. Society should also become more aware when their children are with them in public because they can be taken just as easily. Casey Anthony speaks after keeping quiet for many years since the trial. Casey continues to believe she was innocent and the jurors made the right decision. Casey tells reporters she doesn’t know what happened to her daughter in her last moments. She understands why so many people wanted to hurt her or why they felt she was guilty. She never mentioned much about her parents, but Ms. Anthony talks about how her parents had created a no profit fund for Caylee,” She was disappointed when they took money from Dr. Phil’s show and appeared on there as well. He donated $600,000 to her daughter’s nonprofit fund. Dr. Phil told Casey’s parents that they wouldn’t get any income from the money, so eventually the nonprofit was terminated” (Associated Press). Ms. Anthony was hurt, but not surprised at her parents actions for wanting to take advantage of the current situation for money.

Casey Anthony is charged with misdemeanors for giving false information to police after she is found not guilty of murdering her daughter, Caylee Anthony, after her disappearance a couple months before trials had started. Her father, George Anthony, had also been accused of being an accomplice to helping Ms. Anthony cover up the murder. Casey would not be free until she finished her four year jail term for misdemeanors and would also be fined $4,000.  According to CNN, when Casey was released she went back to court to discuss the fines. Judge Perry, who ran her trials, explains to her that she owed authorities a total of $217,000. A couple years later, she files for bankruptcy protection, with $800,00 in liabilities. Casey Anthony speaks out about having to carry on like normal during her time in court, but she has started anew and closed the chapter in her life.
