The book ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, written by C.S Lewis shows and represents the different characters through their actions, speech, and personality traits. The novel is one of the best components of writing and shares different personalities as well as behaviours and provides different information for every single character. The author used a variety of different techniques and writing aptitudes to further advance the novel.

Edmund is one of the main characters in the novel, and is displayed to the reader as an ignorant, mean, and selfish person. He was showing a lot of betrayal too all the other characters including his siblings, the Beavers and Aslan. Edmund was written to be an undisciplined individual, but as the story progresses, he slowly starts to realize that the environment he was in and the way he was being treated was not what he desired at all. The White Witch offered Edmund Turkish delights if he assured her that he will put forward his siblings and of course, he took the suggestion. He attempted to put forward his siblings, but after a while the Witch was getting aggressive with Edmund, and she was mistreating him. Edmund is certainly an incognizant and credulous person, but he is quite vigilant of the boundaries.

In the novel, Lucy is described as a curious and adventurous character and is always determined to prove her point. In some cases, she can be overly sensitive, which isn’t necessary at all. In spite of the fact that she is adventurous, her curiosity can often lead her to the wrong paths. When she entered the wardrobe, she found Mr. Tumnus and without hesitation, instantly followed him. To her misfortune, he was also working with the Witch. The Witch’s plan was to capture any ‘daughters of Eve and Sons of Adam’, which poor Mr. Tumnus had to undertake. Lucky for her, Mr. Tumnus felt abundantly guilty, and he let her proceed. This event just proves how easy it is for Lucy to get lost and go by the wrong paths.

Susan is a character in the novel who is not mentioned as frequently as her other siblings, but still plays a role in the novel. The author describes her as a kind-hearted and responsible individual who always follows her instincts.  Besides the fact that she is kind-hearted and responsible, she is not selfless, but she still endeavours to protect her siblings at all costs. When Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy sensed rustling in the bushes, Susan was becoming very anxious and uneasy, so she suggested that they instantly went home to keep them all safe. Luckily, the rustling in the bushes was just the beavers and they were not working with the Witch, nor Mr. Tumnus. She most definitely is a responsible and caring person who willing to undertake risks that surpass her.

The character ‘Peter’ in the story, is written to be a mature and right-minded individual. He always does the right thing in most cases, but he can be too dramatic sometimes. When Edmund was making Lucy feel distraught by saying that she was just imagining and making up stories, he was being overly rude. “Shut up! You’ve been perfectly beastly to Lu….”, he said interrupting Edmund. Although he was being very rude, there is definitely a good side towards him. When Edmund savagely turned on them, Peter knew that he was their brother after all, and that he’s only a kid so they should still try and look for him before it’s too late. Peter is an understanding person, and even if he’s had an argument with someone, he always tries to find a way back together.

The novel is an amazing piece of writing for any aged children and would entertain many other generations. Edmund certainly has an unacceptable personality, but slowly enhances throughout the story. The White Witch teaches him a lesson, that what you see isn’t always what it seems. The personality of Lucy is strong and brave, but she can go towards the wrong paths. Susan is a responsible and caring person who is not selfless, but she is always willing to take on any risks that pass by her. Although Peter can be a little too dramatic sometimes, he has a good side buried deep inside him. All the characters in the novel have personalities that suit them perfectly, so they all are unique in different ways.
