Hammurabi’s Code has 282 laws but the most interesting one is if your wife is really sick and will die you are able to marry another woman but you have to take care of the sick wife. Hammurabi’s Code is a code that he made nearly 4,000 years ago. The code is different laws made for people who broke the law. Hammurabi wanted it to be fair for the victim. For example somebody built a house then the house fell down and the person in the house died then the person who built the house would either get their eyes taken out, get their hand cut off or get killed. Some of the laws from his code are still used to this day. Was Hammurabi’s Code fair? Hammurabi’s Code was fair for the victim, accused and society.

Hammurabi’s Code is just because of the property law. The property law is just because 1, If someone robbed your house they would get either put to death or severely injured(Doc. D). Second, if the robber wasn’t caught they would be cursed and maybe turn themselves in to the people looking for them (Doc. D).

A second reason Hammurabi’s Code was just is because of the family law. One reason the family law is just is when a woman is caught cheating on her husband she would be blinded because you shouldn’t do that to someone (Doc. C). Another reason the family law was just is because when the man's wife is severely sick he can marry another woman but when they get married the new couple have to take care of the sick wife (Doc. C).

The last reason Hammurabi’s Code was just is because of the personal injury law. One reason the law is just is because if a surgeon saves someone’s life he would be paid 10 shekels of silver (Doc. E). A second reason for the law to be just is because if the surgeon killed someone the surgeon has to get his hands cut off (Doc. E).

Although, Hammurabi’s Code was just some people weren’t happy with it like for example, when a surgeon kills his patient the surgeon isn’t happy about it because it wasn’t completely his fault from Law 218. Hammurabi’s Code was fair for the victim, accused and society.
