Victoria Gaspar Tedocio is a Zapotec woman from Oaxaca, Mexico who showcases her love for her culture and the women that raised her through tattoo’s. I learned about Tedocio from her instagram where she displays her tattoos and the stories behind them. This artist is located in Mexico city and tattoos in Illustra walking gallery along with various other artists. 

I first came across Victoria Gaspar Tedocio's art in the summer of 2021 and was instantly captivated by the representation of femininity and womanhood. Tedocio focuses on representing the strength and beauty of the woman native to mexico. Many of her tattoos focus around a central feminine figure. At the time I came across Tedocio’s instagram I was struggling with my femininity and feeling strong and beautiful within my own energy. As a Mexican-American woman, seeing women that resembled the women I grew up with being represented as beautiful and worthy of being a part of someone’s body forever gave me reassurance and confidence. 

I would love to get tattooed by Victoria Gaspar Tedocio next time I am in Mexico, a tattoo from her varies in price starting at $50 to upwards of $1,000 with a required booking fee that will go towards the total tattoo cost. I have been quoted via Instagram direct messages  for a medium forearm tattoo of a woman with flowers surrounding for $350. It is very important for the tattoos which I will carry on my body for the rest of my life to be done by someone who shares similar values as me and honoring and representing my culture is very important to both the artist and I.
