Government Action and Accountability Essay Sample

Today, citizens are under attack. They have been let down over and over again due to the failed agenda seen from the higher powers. Division, mistrust, business closure, inflation, and taxes, are all growing to be out of proportion. Families who work tremendous hours to make ends meet, the government using their money on unnecessary situations, and countless other problems that are lacking to be solved or even worked on. If this all continues, who is to say where the country will be in a few years. Who is to say what the price of gas and other essentials will be. The citizens need a leader on their side. Someone who will step up for the people, and get things done. To reinstate trust and dependability in the government. 

The first candidate making a move on this conflict is Tammy Duckworth, the current democratic senator of Illinois. Duckworth stands for the increase of transparency and improvement of oversight in our government. She has made one of her priorities to get rid of fraud, and abuse in our government. Tammy Duckworth has been seen lending a helping hand when The Department of Defense had blown billions of dollars to obtain camouflage uniforms. This was soon found out by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), in which Senator Duckworth helped alter the law to get rid of wasteful government spending. “As a result of this good government reform, the GAO reported that taxpayers saved $4.2 billion over 5 years when the Army avoided procuring a new family of camouflage uniforms.” (Duckworth) On March 16, 2022, Tammy Duckworth re-introduced The Demanding Oversight and Justification Over Legal Conclusions Transparency Act (DOJ OLC Transparency Act) to increase surveillance over the executive branch, so their opinions will be minimized and ignored when making legal decisions. Which have in the past, been used as justification for unacceptable, and even lethal government actions. Duckworth has shown support and push for the reduction of the government, and has made beneficial changes. But Duckworth has not truly gained any major, meaningful effective changes for the citizens, whereas a stronger strive is seen by Kathy Salvi, who won’t stand for anymore withhold of the government lessening its grip on its citizens. Because of Tammy Duckworth’s lack of loyalty and failed agenda, Kathy Salvi proves the best Senate candidate because of  her determination and more comprehensive plan of implementing a more transparent, faithful government by controlling government spending, letting small businesses grow, and reducing taxes and regulations.

Kathy Salvi, a republican on the ballot of the November 8, 2022 election for Illinois senator, stands on the side of a small, limited government. With a greater purpose as to bring real economic relief to businesses and families. To do so, Salvi supports policies that get the government out of the way, opening up America to business again. This deregulation will bring innovation and wider ranges of job opportunities including from small businesses. Which means less business closer, and unemployment, therefore bringing financial salvation to struggling businesses and families. This also ties into the benefit of the children of whom are the future of all of the people, but are currently set up to face repercussions of present decline. Other current circumstances are addressed by Salvi that are under President Joe Biden, and Senator Tammy Duckworth’s watch and control. “President Biden’s inflation means that the average U.S. household will spend an extra $5,200 this year ($433 per month) compared to last year for the same amount of goods and services.” (Salvi). These policies supported by Biden and rubber stamped by Tammy Duckworth, that include spending more and producing less, are failing the citizens. Kathy Salvi states, “this out-of-control spending, prices are up 8.5% from last year and expected to rise even more” (Salvi). Which she will not stand for. Instead Salvi would invest her time in reducing government spending to promote growth in a variety of areas, that ease the current overburden of regulations and taxes on citizens. Kathy Salvi will do the utmost towards restoring public trust and its faith in the government, to ensure their decisions are what’s best for the people.

Many may argue that Tammy Duckworth stands as the best candidate for our country, taking in the described changes she has made. But what are the changes that have helped to beneficially progress or unite our country? Although she may have gotten the government to avoid spending money on new army uniforms, what has she done for her citizens that look up to her? She rubber stamps and piggybacks on President Biden's continuous unsuccessful policies, that keep getting worse, and more costly for the people. Illinois is lacking the leadership it deserves, of which Kathy Salvi can give. A leader who truly will strive for restoring the public's trust and faith in their government. Salvi recognizes a main problem, “The policies of those currently in power…have made our communities less safe, and have resulted in business closures due to costly and unnecessary regulation” (Salvi). Mistrust in government grows daily because of the repetitive policies that interfere with the way of life and its freedoms. If that trust can be restored, then that shows that the people representing are doing something right. By Salvi showing her dedication to this problem, she can help to restore this trust. 

Kathy Salvi shows as the finest candidate, and the most effective leader who will get things done. Not only things that benefit the government, but fixing the main issues to the people that matter most. Including cost and inflation reductions, deregulation, and unity.. Salvi will reshape the regular routine seen today that keeps failing. Fighting for more job opportunities and flourishing from small businesses, and so much more if given the chance. But one thing ensured is that the list provides issues that are the most meaningful to the citizens, to help redirect the people’s future path in the right direction, who have all endured the government's backhand long enough.
