Informative vs. Persuasive Speeches Essay Example

The difference between informative and persuasive speeches is that an informative speech aims to inform the audience about a specific topic while a persuasive speech aims to persuade the audience to perform a certain action or convince the audience to adopt the belief or opinion of the speaker. An example of where you would use a persuasive speech is when a student council president is trying to convince a school administrator to allow the students to have a dance after the final football game of the season. An example of where you would use informative speech are reports, lectures, and training seminars. Another example of an informative speech is a college professor lecturing on a specific topic during a class. The impromptu speech is generated instantly and delivered immediately; whereas, the extemporaneous speech is delivered using just a few notes. In an impromptu speech, it is on the spot where the speaker has no time to prepare for his or her speech. Extemporaneous speech has more time of preparation. The speaker has allotted time to prepare for the speech. Extemporaneous speech is well planned. They are both one of the major types of speech. My favorite type of speech is entertaining because you change someone's emotion and have fun. My favorite delivery method is extemporaneous speech because it allows speakers to make eye contact with the audience and it is one of the best ways to connect with them and keep them involved in the speech.
