In his uplifting and motivating speech Barack Obama, the 44th United States President, influences and inspires the youth of America by emphasizing the caution of conceding to failure. Obama commences his quote by noting the achievability of the individual becoming great. As stated by Obama, “...Maybe [you could be] even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or the new medicine or vaccine … [you] might not know it until you do your project for your science class.” As preached by the President, it’s vital to undertake contrasting activities. In his speech, Obama intentionally repeats himself and calls upon the reader to add weight and persuasion to his lecture. By pointing out the possibilities and vastness of different careers, Barack Obama makes a logical statement by demonstrating that hard work is an essential, mandatory step to attaining greatness. Obama epitomizes the belief that becoming great is a diligent journey that requires effort and commitment as Obama lists very diverse careers with alternating instances. Such as becoming a writer, innovator, mayor, or even senator in an order that gradually becomes notably ambitious and harder to attain. By doing this, the 44th U.S. President successfully demonstrates that no matter which career the youth pursue, it will ultimately require an education.
