In life, people experiencing grief undergo five emotional stages, according to Kubler-Ross. Grief can result from substance abuse, relationships, and situations. Divorce can lead children to grieve, a wife can grieve her husband’s death, or teenagers grieve the end of their relationship. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross introduced the model of five-stage grief in 1969 in her “On Death and Dying” book. It is not a must for people to undergo all the grief stages. Therefore, people experiencing emotional conditions need to be well-cared for.

Denial is the first step of this theory. It allows people to absorb sudden massive miseries that occur in life, allowing time for people to adapt to a distressing situation. People try to manage emotional pain while processing the certainty of their loss. However, it is hard to understand the loss of someone important in ones’ life, particularly if one just spoke recently. Therefore, adjusting to this new truth can take time. I remember losing my first dog was the worst grief I dealt with. I could recall the times I spent with it and wondered how to move on without him. Anger is a familiar response to the demise of a close person (Corr, 2018). Therefore, it permits individuals to precise their feelings without the panic of getting rejected. Unluckily, anger is probably their first reaction when people relieve loss-related feelings. I blamed myself for the death of my do. After my dog died, I got into depression. Therefore, I was not ready to talk with anyone. Acceptance was the only option I had to heal as time went by.

Older people require distinct care and relief to live a good life free of worries and suffering. Family members abuse the elderly because they lack information on their varying behaviors at home (Cordes et al., 2019). Many older adults find it difficult to perform basic daily functions such as clothing and washing; hence nursing homes become their best option. Loneliness is common among the elderly; therefore places like assisted living and skilled nursing facilities are vital options to improve emotional well-being by providing opportunities for social interaction with others. Some elders have complex medical issues, in turn, requiring professionals who help them maintain and prevent deterioration of their condition. Therefore, nursing homes may be the only option for the elderly if they lack support at home.

The demand-withdraw interaction is a conflict in which one partner puts pressure on the other, criticizes, or seeks change while the withdrawer seeks to end or avoid speaking of the issue.  Unresolved demand-withdraw interaction can negatively affect relationships by hindering problem solving and provoking anger and other negative emotions. I experienced a demand-withdraw from my partner after demanding to relocate. I was transferred from my workplace; therefore, the transportation fees were high. However, my partner could not listen to my opinion. He ignored me whenever I talked about the issue.  We argued for months, but finally, we resolved the issue by listening to each other’s opinions and planning things out together.

In conclusion, people experiencing emotions caused by grief should get assistance to accept their situations and learn to live with them. The older people in society require special care from well-trained professionals. Conflicts in a relationship can be solved by listening to ones’ opinions carefully, weighing them, and having a common view about the issue.
