As technology advances people try to justify that using it to educate is more efficientthan traditional ways such as writing by hand. Technology has rapidly increased ways oflearning in terms or research and other types of resources but writing by hand is stillnecessary in the practice of education due to the positives impacts it has.Writing by hand engages the brain differently to typing. Studies have shown that writingby hands significantly improves the memory and retention. The act of writing on a paperactivates parts of the brain that help develop comprehension, reinforcing our readingand language processing skills. For example, when writing something out you take thetime to read as you write since its slower than typing, as opposed to typing where youare just looking for the next letter to press. This is why many teachers believe thatwriting by hand enhances language acquisition.Additionally, writing also improves spelling since it forces you to write correctly whiletyping automatically corrects you when typing and you don't really learn the word.Writing allows to slow time and let the writer think about the words, their structure andhow they are spelt. Allowing time to slow down will also create unique pathways in thebrain causing those who write by hand to remember what they wrote with morefrequently since they are more connected to the ideas.Another common problem is abbreviations for words such as "your and "you're" used as"ur" in social media slang, which has caused a lot of teenagers to not know thedifference between "your and "you're". These numbers are bound to increase as more and more people use technology.many studies have shown that on average people blink less when using a device thanpaper, this means that when focused on a screen your eyes wont get enough oxygenand nutrients, staring at a screen for long hours wll damage your vision and dry youreyes.In conclusion, writing by hand has significantly more benefits than new age technology,such as engaging the brain in ways a device cannot, developing comprehension andreinforcing language and processing skills. Improves spelling as it makes you read eachword written as well as not use abbreviation of words such as "your", "you're". Lastly itimproves focus and reduces strain in your eyes.
