On May 16, 1828, Anton Karazai, a world-famous musician, was hanged. Jake, Anton Karazai's son, had called the police to inform them that his father had hanged himself from a chandelier in the piano room. My boss, Mark Munoz, gave me the assignment of investigating the premises.

I arrived at the mansion and I started observing the scene. There was a journal and some wine on the table. Anton Karazai's neck was bleeding, as concluded from the coroner’s report, and he was hanged from the chandelier in the piano room. There was also a stool two feet under Anton Karazai’s body, and some ripped piano chords.

I believe that Jake Karazai killed his father, Anton Karazai.

The diary mentioned, “May 16, 2006. Have been sad for weeks now. My strength diminishes every day. It is even difficult for me to play the piano. Sometimes, even piano fails to cheer me. Sometimes my failing ability makes me angry. Yesterday I actually kicked my piano! But my ninety-year-old legs could hardly hurt a little bird. Only my son remains, my only son and the sole heir to all that I have earned and collected over this incredible but lonely life. I wonder if he knows what he will be getting when I die. Perhaps. But perhaps not. I will try to play something simple to cheer me before I retire for the evening—perhaps something from Debussy’s “Children’s Corner,” a wonderful collection of happy, beautiful melodies.”

My first reason is that Jake is the only person that benefits from his father's death. Anton Karazai's journal entry states that "Only my son remains, my only son and the sole heir to all that I have earned and collected over this incredible but lonely life. I wonder if he knows what he will be getting when I die." Jake may have read the diary, gotten greedy, and had the motive to kill his father.

My second reason is that if allegedly, Anton Karazai hanged himself using piano chords, he wouldn't have been strong enough to do it. In his journal entry, he states that "...my ninety-year-old legs could hardly hurt a little bird." If he is so weak that he cannot hurt a baby bird, you would've figured that a man that weak can't rip out metal wire from a piano or hang himself on his own.

My last reason is that his hanging happened after his journal entry, which states, "I will try to play something simple to cheer me before I retire for the evening-". What he means by "retire for the evening" is going to bed. If he was going to bed and then hanged himself is quite improbable. He wouldn’t be able to remove himself out of bed, and then rip out metal wire, use a stool under him, and then hang himself. So, Jake may have had the opportunity to hang his father, and then call the police.

My opposition may state that since Anton was lonely and depressed, and decided to commit suicide.

I still believe that Jake Karazai killed his father because he is not strong enough to hang himself or rip out metal wires from a piano. He couldn't have hanged himself, because as the journal says, he was going to “retire”, or go to bed, and he wrote his journal before his hanging happened. The last piece of evidence is that Jake Karazai had the motive to possibly commit the crime of killing his father, which is in the journal entry, where it says that Jake Karazai would inherit all the money that his father had earned over the years of being a world-famous pianist once his father is dead.

I recommend that Jake Karazai be charged with homicide. I also recommend investigating the authenticity of Anton Karazai’s journal and check the security cameras in the mansion (if there are any).
