What would you do if a person walked up to your house begging for a place to hide away, scared of being executed?  In The Hiding Place Corrie Ten-Boom had to make this very decision.  Everyone agrees Corrie had a choice to let the Jews stay in her humble home.  Some believe she should, and some believe she shouldn't have.

Corrie should have helped the Jews for these three reasons: They needed help, it was worth it, and the Ten-Booms had more than enough to hide them.

The first reason why Corrie should have agreed to let the Jews stay, is because the poor Jews had nowhere to go, they were helpless and would eventually be found by soldiers if she didn't agree to hide them, and God mentions in the bible to help others.

The second reason why Corrie should have let the Jews stay is because it was worth it.  It was worth the risk, worth being in a cell, and worth the pain at the camp.

The third reason why Corrie should have helped the Jew is because they had enough to hide them.  The Ten-Booms had a large house and extra rooms where the Jews could stay, they had enough food and supplies, and they had a good enough system to keep the Jews hidden.

Some people say they shouldn't have hid the Jews.  They argue that it would be better if the family never helped them in the first place so they wouldn't get in trouble.  It broke the law and the family could get caught.  But this argument is inadequate because it was a great cause that was maybe even more important than the soldiers law, the risk was also worth it.

In addition people say that the Jews can just hide and fend for themselves, they say they can run away from the town without putting other people in danger by staying with them.  This argument is also invalid because there was no possible way out of town without a soldier catching them.  TheTen-Booms could have disagreed to take in people who needed help, but they decided to take a risk, and from the results of the book I think it was a good choice.

Neither of these arguments-that they would get in trouble and that the Jews can help themselves- is a good enough reason to convince the Ten-Booms to not help hide the Jews.

Corrie should have hid the Jews because they needed help, it was worth it, and they had more than enough to help.  Corrie and her extraordinary family made a sacrifice by giving up their freedom and giving it to the Jews.  Without Corrie, the Jews would either be dead or in a cage.
