The Human Struggle Created by Scorsese Essay Example

Martin Scorsese is a famous director is America(Barson 2021).  He was born in a colony outsiders (Barson 2021).   The environment let him to touch each kinds of people from different class. It helped him to make film when he grew up. His film will have some similar settings and camera movement. His use those similar technologies in the films Taxi Driver (Scorsese, 1976), Raging Bull (Scorsese, 1980), and Goodfellas (Scorsese ,1990) . These films are all about the hatred from protagonist in the edge of the class be oppressed by privileged class to violent struggle.

The films are using similar settings to reflect the darkness of the social. The setting of  Taxi Driver (Scorsese, 1976) in the beginning of the film is the road in busy city at night. There are many people and cars , but there are no sound in the street (Scorsese, 1976).  It reflect a night in a big city and shows the fear.  The film Raging Bull (Scorsese, 1980) is black and white(Scorsese, 1980). The setting of Goodfellas (Scorsese ,1990) is usually in a bustling cities. There are many people in bar and dance hall . It seems to make a comedy. But they people will often fight and quarrel and it reflects the evil behind the noise(Scorsese ,1990). It shows the gandom. The settings of the films are all in noisy cities and people corrupt in the cities.

Scorsese uses full-length shots in the films to show the life of the main characters.

In Raging Bull (Scorsese, 1980), The shot begins will the main character that was a boxer goes into the boxing ring(Scorsese, 1980). It shows that he is full of confidence to go to his big challenge. He wants to get golden price. He is full of positive power at this time. The shot in Goodfellas (Scorsese ,1990) follows the protagonist goes to a big restaurant with a big corridor. He walks through kitchen then goes to the hall of the restaurant. He meets hundreds of people in the hall (Scorsese ,1990). Those shows that he has lots of friends. Those full-length shots are all in a corridor and shows the status of the main character. 

The films are about violent struggle with privileged class. In Taxi Driver (Scorsese, 1976), the taxi driver has took part in Vietnam War and becomes a common taxi driver. (Scorsese, 1976). He sees the evil in the city and meets a hypocritical councillor (Scorsese, 1976). He finds that he cannot change them, finally he becomes violent. so he plans to kill the hypocritical councillor ,but fails.  Then he goes to a monster and kills some whoremasters and saves a prostitutes(Scorsese, 1976). He tries his best to struggles in the world, but he finds that  the world is very dark .He is oppressed by the life and other people. Then he begins to revolt and corrupt. In Raging Bull (Scorsese, 1980), a boxer cannot get champion because he does not obey the Mafia(Scorsese, 1980). He is oppressed by the Mafia. Then he knuckles under the Mafia and finally gets  a champion (Scorsese, 1980).  But he still become abjection ,he can only struggle to live in the world(Scorsese, 1980).  In the Goodfellas (Scorsese ,1990) the protagonist takes part in gangdom(Scorsese, 1980).  He achieves a great success in it, but he still cannot get rid of bound by fate, then he is caught by police and finally becomes a common man  (Scorsese, 1980). He experiences lots of things in the world and he needs to escape from police and struggle in(Scorsese, 1980).  Those people are all living in margin of the world, finally fails in struggle.

Overall, Martin Scorsese’s films show the people in the chaotic world become violent and struggle to live. They expose some ugliness in the social.    The scene is more chaotic than the real world. However, it is a experience to teach people to have a correct thoughts.
