My dear friend, when I received word that you have been interested in Joseph I started to reflect on my beloved friend’s life. I have been with him for many years and heard much about his life. So, I believe I know him very well. I hope this account of his life exceeds your expectations and it teaches you his story. Now here is my narrative of Joseph's life.

When I first met Joseph, he was just a slave waiting to be sold. But that was when I met him but the beginning of his life would be a better moment to start at. Joseph’s father had four wives and he was conceived by his father’s favored wife. Joseph grew up with many brothers but his father showed favoritism toward him and gave him many gifts. One of these gifts consisted of a cloak of many colors. His brothers were not given such gifts or held to higher regard like Joseph was.

Joseph also could also interpret dreams. I'm sure you have heard of this, but his brothers did not like this, it was like he was their superior. They got envious and wanted him to be gone. He was their little sibling. He informed their father of the things they did wrong, he was favored over them like the younger sibling usually does. I presume you don’t know, seeing you are the younger sibling, but to continue. they were resentful of him. The brothers took Joesph and threw him down in a pit, and later was sold to slavers. That’s where I came in. When I first met him, I knew he was special. There was just something about him. When I was in the market to get more slaves to add to the abundance I already had, I saw Joseph. He was weak and haggard but my intuition told me to acquire him as my slave.

When he was working as a slave, he was hard working and never turned down a task. When I continued to see his hard work around my sort of redundant, I made him the head of the slaves. When I had promoted him, I assumed my wife found interest in him. She tried to seduce him. She framed him, telling me that he had tried to violate her even though he knew I was her husband. I didn’t know that at the time and believed my wife. I sent him to prison. I trusted him and didn’t want him to be executed even after this action had taken place.

After I locked him up, I noticed the scarcity of food and the lands having less seed. With everything going on in my life, Joseph was only barely surviving in the prison. Of what I heard, he helped two men with their dreams. One that had died three days after his dream, and the other working for Pharaoh again after three days. I certainly cannot recall what the dreams had been about, I apologize for that. After those two men left the prison, Joseph was lonely. No one to turn to, nowhere to go. He was put in charge of the prison and lived his life there for two years, forgotten.

Many years ago, I was awakened with a dream. I had many supposed dream interpreters to my side to find out what my dream meant. None of them had an answer of what my dream meant. When my butler heard of my story, he told me about Joseph and how interpreted his dream when he went to prison. I raced my servants to go get him. I haven’t seen this man in years but he told me what my dream meant. What this man said was that there were seven years of plenty upon us and seven years of famine after that. The dreams came to pass. I will admit the years of drought were not the best for me or my land. But when the years of plenty came about, it

The return of his brother

When he interpreted my dreams, he gained back my trust. Because of this I made him second in my country. He was maintaining the grains and the lands, the only person that was higher than him was Pharaoh. When we had an abundance of food, all the other countries came to us in hope of food since they were dealing with drought at the time. Since Joseph was maintaining the grain, he dealt with a lot of people. His brothers unexpectedly showed up to buy grain for their family. Joseph got angry. Remembering all the rough times they caused him, not to mention the fact that they sold him in to slavery. He got mad and claimed they were spies for the land they came from. So he put them in prison for three days and questioned them until they said they had another brother. He sent them to get the last brother in order to prove their word.

His brothers had a long journey, especially because of the drought. For a long time they did not come back. His father did not want to give up Benjamin, since Benjamin was also born from the father’s favorite wife. He was the only thing remaining of her, since she died shortly after he was born. In time, they all ate the grain they brought back from Egypt and had to come back.

They came to Egypt with Benjamin and gifts. Joseph made his servants prepare a feast for them for their return. Joseph had asked them how their father was and when they told him he was doing fine, he was filled with joy. After that night, Joseph sent home his brothers with plenty of wheat and grain. But in the yougest’s donkey’s saddle. After they set off Joseph sent a steward to find Joseph's cup, knowing it was there. Once they were caught, they were brought back before to Joseph and bowed to him, apologizing. He told his siblings that they one who had the cup will be sent off to be a slave for my country. The oldest, Judah, went up and asked to take Benjamin's place. He went on and on about their father, when something clicked for Joseph. It was only then when Joseph revealed himself as their brother. He tells them to get their father and tell them that they can take place in Egypt. Joseph came to consult me, practically begging to allow them to stay. Since Joseph has brought so much light through my life, I decided to grant them permission to move to Egypt. So the brothers were sent off and they came back with the whole family.

It has been like this for the past couple of years. Joseph likes it here with his family and even with the troubles he has faced, I can proudly say he’s had a good life. Again, thank you for writing this letter. It has been greatly appreciated to go through my dearest friend’s life.
