America, once being one of the strongest and most influential powers that the Earth has seen in modern day, is now a diminishing power politically, militarily, economicly, and socially. 

At the core of American society lies politics and the government. Many on both sides of the spectrum believe that the opposing party poses ¨A clear and present danger to American democracy".  Due to the distrust amongst the American people and large amounts of infighting, it has pulled our attention away from the world stage and its issues towards ourselves who are trying to keep the nation from plunging into a civil war. Without a common goal the American people cannot properly function and support a government. Without any Focus towards a common goal we are left with a weakening influence across the world. 

Our influence has been in decline not long after the end of World War II. The Marshall Plan being one of the last and largest efforts in Europe to help rebuild economically and structurally.  Soon after winning the war and helping countries get back into a secure position, we promised that we would always defend and come to help in times of need; with recent events that have taken place, many across the world are seeing that the long standing promise is no longer something that Europe places trust in. We have shown in Afghanistan that we cannot hold our own for long periods of time even against a smaller force. Having to  back down and  leave saying good luck to everybody else. The [Biden] administration failed to heed the warnings on Afghanistan, failed to act with urgency—and its failure has left tens of thousands of Afghans to a terrible fate. This betrayal will live in infamy. America's credibility has far diminished over the last 71 years.

America economically had the best products in almost every industrial sector, that was until we started to fall behind due to a lack of aggression in competitiveness against other trading super powers. Due to the sluggish American response, we have become more dependent upon imported goods and in turn have lessened its exported trade with others. Due to a lack of competitiveness the American markets have shrunk exponentially giving little control over the world market. Due to the constant buying of imports we have grown further in debt making the worth of our currency closer and closer to dirt every year.f Hence this growing wound in the economy is showing that we are further vulnerable to outside powers. If so chosen, America's enemies could push a trade embargo slowly choking us economically just as we did to Japan as they forcefully expanded into Asia. Economically if nothing is done the states would end  up in another depression much like if not worse than that of 2008 and possibly one of the  1920s and 30s.

Some 156 years after the Confederate Army surrendered to Union forces at the Appomattox Court House to end the Civil War, a nation that stands as a global beacon of freedom and liberty is unable to atone for its "original sin" of slavery. Even after a century and a half America still is not able to rid itself of the systematic racism. Stuck in a cycle of on and off from the front burner to the back it has continued to be the one issue that always comes back, only for a weakening government to appease the majority until the next primer is set off to bring it back to light. Racinsm alone isn't the only social issue that plagues the American people though, many see that the economic system is rigged to benefit those who are in power and have large sums of wealth. To the extent that current economic conditions are helping particular groups, the public sees the majority of the  benefits flowing towards the most well-off. Roughly seven-in-ten adults (69%) say today’s economy is helping people who are wealthy (only 10% say the wealthy are being hurt). At the same time, majorities of Americans say poor people, those without a college degree, older adults, younger adults and the middle class are being hurt rather than helped by current economic conditions. Corruption and the abuse of power is the strongest pillar holding up this issue. Once in power many will do anything to not give it up. Napoleon, Mussolinie, Julius Cesar, Putin, Kim Jung Un; all who are or will become historical figures in one way or another are excellent examples as to why those who come to power never want to give it up as Ashoka Tono once said ¨Corruption is what happens when someone in power puts their own personal gain before the internets of the people they represent.¨

America is much like an apple, so well polished and good looking but with a rotten core. As le Carre observed, it is largely an aesthetic thing - we don't like what we see when we look hard, because we see ourselves. America is ugly and will continue to become uglier as it continues down it's crazed spiral of decline.
