The concept of justice is explored through the character Baba through key events, dialogue and characteristics. Baba’s character is described as someone who has a personality and charity just as large as their stature we see that throughout the book Baba is constantly helping and is being thanked by people for helping them we can see this through the event during Baba and amirs escape to pakistan when Baba defends a woman when the russian soldier demands an hour with her in exchange for letting them pass, “War doesn’t negate decency. It demands it, even more than in times of peace" the author uses positive connotations on “peace ” and the imperative “demands” as well as the superlatives on” even more” as well as the line “tell him ill take a thousand of his bullets before i let this indecency take place” where the word “tell” and “”Ill let” are used as simperative followed by a hyperbole of “ill take a thousand bullets” the author uses these language feature in these lines to show Baba’s character and his principle belief and morals in that he would rather allow the extremity of him dying than to allow others be wronged in front of him. The author uses Baba's character to explore the concept of justice and comments on the human nature of fight or flight, using baba and amir in this situation we see that he author uses Amir’s character to showcase the cowardly flight response most people in  society hold that we would rather stay in the safety of witnessing and letting an immoral act occur rather than like Baba whose character symbolize those who stand martyr for their beliefs, regardless of the harm and danger that it may put him through.

f\Furthermore we see the concept of justice in baba's character in the dialogue “there is only one sin, only one. And that is theft every other sin is a variation of theft” explaniing to amir that Baba believes in only one sin, we see that also he mocks and question the hypocrisy of Muslim leaders “youll never learn anything valuable from those bearded idiots” and “Piss on the beards of all those self rightoues bastards” using the words purpose verbs “piss”, “never” with negative connotations along with the words “anything valuable”, “bearded idiots”, “self righteous bastards”. The author uses baba’s perception of religion in contrast to the culture of afghanistan, where people were divided and classified by their beliefs, “history isn't easy to overcome and neither is religion” this statement is said early on the book to show how differently amir sees his relationship and loyalty as a friend to hassan but we can also interpret this as a statement on religious division in rather than religion bringing people together it is instead what divides people, the author uses this to show the concept of justice in religion in its negative light contrasting to how religion in all its beliefs are upheld the author shows societies conformity in the false sense of justice by all believing in one majority and ultimately the other non conforming groups being wrong, -the divide between pashtuns and hazaras and how pashtuns are held higher than hazaras and hazaras lower.
