Essay Sample on How Can We Reduce the Amount of Homelessness

How can we reduce the amount of homelessness? Over time the population is increasing, which would mean that there is a higher rate of homelessness. But how can we turn this social issue around? According to “Google”, there is a 2.2 increase in homelessness since 2019 US. What can we do to lower this cause and try decreasing the number of homeless people in the streets? 

“This meant that homeless families with children often received help while homeless individuals were turned away.” Quotes, (School Eb) this means that most likely if you have a family or more than 1 person this will probably mean you have a higher rate of being helped, but if you are an individual person homeless trying to find help the possibilities of you being helped are low, I can try inferring that people/communities want to help families other than helping separate people because maybe they feel worse on having to see families suffering in tents, trying to help their children during low times. 

And seeing the adults having to give the rest of their food on their plate for them. This is affecting our society because it affects our economy and the domestic violence rates are high. If we do address homelessness more often it would mean with housing provides roofs over people's heads but homelessness is usually caused by addictions or unemployment. If we can find the main reason for homelessness we can try lowering the rate of people being put in poverty. In this paragraph, “People may also slip into homelessness after living through war, a natural disaster, or a personal hardship, such as domestic abuse.” Said, (School EB) this shows that its not always about the drugs or how bad their rent is, it can probably mean that they went through war and disasters that destroyed their houses and made them go homeless, you can’t really do anything about it if your house is destroyed by a tornado or an earthquake. And even if you do live throughout war you can’t do anything else other than try to get a job and work for your money all again. 

“Unsheltered homeless sleep on the streets, in cars, in abandoned buildings, or in other places not meant for sleeping.” According to this paragraph (School EB) Shows, that they don’t have an actual place they stay to go to sleep. They have to switch to cars to places that people don’t visit anymore or very dusty the amount of trash that is on the floor in the streets because it really isn’t safe in the streets, but it really isn't safe in general to live somewhere that is abandoned. But the reason why homeless people decide to live in abandoned places is because of heat and sometimes light, it can sometimes contain running water even if the place is rundown. (But abandoned places or houses that they decide to live in can be very dangerous, it can include water contamination and air pollution, only if it is really abandoned though) Fun fact you can also call them squatters if they live in abandoned houses. 

Overall, homelessness really did affect our society, it affected ours by having a bad economy, or homeless people being scattered across the streets. But in total, we can fix this issue by having the right opportunity with different communities to help these homeless people find homes or get help for them. It is time that our society tries to change how everyone lives, we can fix this by making everyone live the same, including everyone living in a house, or an apartment. No more living in the streets. More living in houses.
