Negative Misconceptions Of Feminism Essay Sample

As people living in today’s age and era, we see so many powerful women striving to achieve their dreams and being crowned as believers. We see them break through the boundaries set by other people based on absurd beliefs and irrational superstitions that women have certain ‘limits’ in society. We see then fight, hustle, fall but stand up again and again to say ‘NO!’ to suppression, to let their voices rage through the crowd to help women achieve equal opportunities as men do.

Even though, throughout history women have been rigorously fighting for gender equality and paving out their place in society, there are still so many women out there who are constant victims of discrimination and inequality. There are people who don’t even see women as humans, as a person who has feelings, opinions and dreams. There are people who think that women are merely objects that exist to procreate.

People believe that to be a feminist, or to support feminism means to support the suppression of men, that it is a way to gain dominance over men. This is a misconception! It is FALSE! Feminism is NOT a fight or war to see who gets more power or who is going to rule over whom. It is about equality, about having equal opportunities, to be respected in society and to have the right to speak up about one’s opinion.
