Do you ever wonder if Hollywood movies are actually historically accurate? Specifically in the famous Disney movie Pocahontas when she saved John Smith's life that is not historically accurate. At the same time, it has never happened with more things. Although  the feature film is not historically accurate; it still has a lot of information. In summary the historical account of Pocahontas compares and contrasts with Disneys’ Pocahontas in details of events, relationships of individuals, and characteristics of individuals.

The details of events found in the movie plus in history have several comparisons and contrasts. In particular both stories show that when the British came over to America they had a leader who was John Smith along with Governor Ratcliffe. Another similarity is the relationships that Pocahontas has with people like the relationship between her and John Smith. They didn’t have a romantic relationship ;but they did come in contact with each other. In addition, numerous differences are also found. As in her age, when she married plus who she married. In addition in the movie Pocahontas was 18-19 years old when she was actually 14-15 years old. She never married the man her father wanted her to marry, she actually married a white man in England when she moved there. Therefore, many event details demonstrate how the two stories differ and compare to each other.

Along with the details of events the relationships of individuals also have many similarities and differences. One similarity is that the natives captured John Smith and threatened his life; this actually did happen in real life along with the movie. With similarities there has to be differences.  Such as John Smith's life was saved, in the film  Pocahontas saved his life ;but that's not how it went. The natives let John Smith live having nothing to do with Pocahontas. For instance how the Englishmen tried to attack the natives, this happened both in the movie and real life. In all some people had good relationships with the natives while others didn’t.

Following the relationships comes characteristics of individuals. The characteristics also have multiple similarities and differences. For example is where Pochoants got her name. Did you know that her name wasn’t actually Pochoants, her real name was Amounte. More importantly  her dad called her Pochoants because she was so much like her mom so her dad started calling her by her mom’s name. Pocahontas dad's name was Powhatan was the chief of the tribe which happened in the movie that is also factual. Powhatan had many children with many different women but out of all of his kids Pocahontas was his favorite daughter and favorite child out of all of them.  Moreover there are many differences in the characteristics of individuals. There are also some similarities to it.

In conclusion the Disney movie along with the real life Pocahontas have some similarities and differences. Some of the similarities and differences could affect how people see the true story. The details in events play a key role in how people think about Pocahontas. However knowing the historical facts help you better understand the true story. Comparing from only watching the movie and disregarding all of the historical facts would misinform the viewers about the factual information. On the other hand people that would only study the historical facts would more than likely get a better understanding of the actual historical factors.
