Many kids across the globe grew up looking up to a celebrity. Many people think that having a celebrity role model is a good influence for a child so they can be their best selves, but that isn't always the case. There are a heavy amount of celebrities who are negatively influencing their young audience, which can cause very strong and hurtful opinions to form. A  person may be famous, but that doesn't necessarily cover up what they may have done in the past. There are many celebrities that we all knew and loved that had been exposed for doing awful things and are now away from the spotlight. This new form of influencing is also an issue. There are children (around grades 4-7) dressing very revealingly, which might not be a problem for some parents but it is a problem for the reasons of how it affects the child.

Research from the University of Calgary found that 60 percent of college students admitted a celebrity had influenced their view on life. This means their beliefs, body image, and how they perceive beauty and perfection. This can have a heavily negative impact on a child's life, especially how they view themselves as a being.  Having a bad image of yourself at a young age can cause many issues, such as body and facial dysmorphia. Along with the dysmorphia, children are perceiving beauty in others differently now. Not only are they influenced by celebrities to judge themselves, but they are also learning to judge others. These things have a heavy impact on our lives, predominantly on younger children. This means that children are developing insecurities at a very young age, which can be draining and terrible for the child's mental health in the upcoming future.

Recently we have all seen the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp court videos and those gave us a whole new POV on how celebrities are not what they seem to be. For example, even though Johnny won the court case, many stories of him saying very controversial and offensive language have come up. This shows us how no matter how loved and cherished a celebrity may be, we cannot trust them, and looking up to them is a bad idea. Many studies have shown that people tend to act like their role models. This can mean that if you look up to a person who may be known for some sketchy stuff you may end up just like them or in a similar situation. The sad part is that this is easily avoidable. If you are raising your child, show them shows and movies with unproblematic people or simply just animations. This can help a lot because animation doesn't have a life outside its screen and can be deemed unproblematic.

If you haven't noticed, recently many young teens and preteens are dressing very revealingly. This over-sexualization is disgusting and sad because many parents don't notice the effects this may have. Many Young girls (mainly ages 10-12) are putting on an excessive amount of makeup and revealing clothing due to these influencers claiming that this is the only way u will be perceived as beautiful. This is heartbreaking because young girls are oversexualizing themselves for validation from the people around them so they can feel pretty. This is not helpful for the adolescent girls who are being manipulated by these influencers into thinking this and ruining their view of themselves and diminishing their childhood.

There is a wild amount of celebrities who are negatively influencing their young audience, which can cause multiple issues, such as insecurities and certain forms of dysmorphia. Children may be looking up to celebrities who are not the best people and catch on to some of their traits, which can lead to trouble making friends and much more serious stuff such as addiction. Many young girls have been sexualizing themselves because they feel that this is the only way they can be attractive to other people. They learn these things from social media and influencers. This is why you shouldn't let your kids look up to celebrities but instead someone u know, like their parent, guardian, or a relative.
