Research Paper Sample on PTSD

Imagine if you just came home from war and you're watching tv then all of a sudden in that movie you see one of the character's friends dying in his arms, you then start to shake and cry as you get flashbacks of what happened. That is called PTSD  or you can say Post-traumatic stress disorder. PTSD is a mental health condition that triggers your mind. You may get this by experiencing something bad or witnessing it.  The symptoms of PTSD may be nightmares, severe anxiety, and uncontrollable triggering about the event. In the article” Forever War of the mind”, ``Behind Bars” and the video, “What PTSD Is Really Like” all three sources use explanations, examples, and/or facts to show how PTSD affects the victim.  

To begin with, in the article, “Forever War Of The Mind” Max Cleland uses examples, explanations, and facts to show how PTSD affects the victim. For instance, the author states that “Every day I was in Vietnam I thought about home and every day in the home I Thought about Vietnam. This shows examples of someone who came home from war and had struggled with the traumatic experience they endured during the war. In addition, the author also states “The first time I saw the still bodies of American soldiers dead on the battlefield is as stark and brutal a memory as one of the grenades that ripped off my right arm and both legs”.  This shows how his   PTSD  first started.  The text also explicitly states that “Figures from the department of veterans affairs show that 131000 of the nation ‘s 24 million Veterans are homeless each night and about twice that many will spend part of this year homeless”. Explain your evidence.

However in the other article “Behind The Bars” the author uses examples, explanations, and facts to show how PTSD affects the people that are victims. In this article, the author discusses, how a boy name  Carlson ended up behind the bars due to not getting help for his PTSD. In the article, the author states how “Hypervillangence isn’t a bad thing if you Iraq or in prison it’s not good if you recover from PTSD”. This tells you that if you’re in jail recovering from PTSD  that’s not good. Also, the author states that “ For my PTSD issues jail is the least therapeutic atmosphere you could ever imagine you come in one way and then you leave three times worse.” This demonstrates how if you go in jail with PTSD  when you come out you will probably come out three times worse. Another thing the author states is “ he says the PTSD is with him in the cell and every day he fights it”. This tells you that every day he gets a trigger from PTSD and he has to try to fight it.
