Research Paper: Technology is Harmful

Premierepc.net declares that over 6,000 new computer viruses are created and released every month. 90% of those viruses are sent by email and when opened the virus is released. Those viruses cause the user to buy a new one because they need it for work or entertainment. That causes them to become addicted. Information is being taken from millions of people from either those viruses, black marketers, or even the county. The internet has millions of people on it every day and those people may not be so nice and could change a person’s life for the worse. Tech can harm people in so many ways such as Identity theft, Scamming, and it can be addicting to people of all ages.

The criminals steal kids, adults, and even seniors' information to sell on the black market and that could lead to safety, privacy, and life all being exposed. If not, criminals could track them, leading to their safety being in a disarray. Identityforce.com claims that 9 out of 10 Americans had an attempted identity theft on them and 3 out of 10 had a successful theft. The opposing team might say that the victim could cancel the old card and renew the card. The card may be canceled but the criminal still has the info and can still sell the victim’s info. With the info still out, the criminals know everything about the victim’s day-to-day and who or what they’re connected to. The safety of people’s info is crucial.

Tech has more ways to harm people such as Scamming.  Glassdoor.com states that scammers make $31,940 a year and consumeraffairs.com states that most of that money is made from the elderly and are persuaded into giving over $34,200 to the scammer. The opposing team may say that once scammed the victim will know not to pick up the phone. After scamming the victims, their number is valuable because they’re easy victims. Then they start selling the number to other scammers where they call the victim and repeat it cold-heartedly. Scamming is harming the better of tech and harming the actual lives of people all over the world.

Tech has scammers and has people relying on tech. That relying has them in an addicting loop. Betterheath.vic.gov claims that people get addicted to the internet and tech from the ever-increasing amounts of time online to feel a sense of satisfaction. The opposing team may say that people could use their phones less, but they can’t. People are so addicted to tech and the internet they are even prepared to lose their jobs, break relationships, and do other things in favor of tech! If people rely on tech or the internet that could lead to them becoming mindless bodies addicted to a machine!

Tech may lead people to become tech-addicted, mindless bodies. Tech may also lead to many troublesome problems such as stealing info, showing people disguised bargains, or even becoming addicting. Tech leads to problems and troubles that people might not even realize they’re participating in. The people running the industries should at least try to fix these problems. If they don’t fix this people may end up in places they don’t want to be or a place they purposefully put themselves in.
