Immigration is defined as anyone living in a country permanently where they weren’t born, Immigration is a real problem in the American economy, but how? Immigration can increase the poverty rate in the American economy, by causing them to pay less for the job, inevitably forcing them into poverty, or the immigrants come poor, meaning that the United States of America is bringing poverty to their own country. Immigration also changes American society. Immigration negatively impacts the American economy.

Immigration can increase poverty in two different ways, it can increase labor job demand causing them to pay less for the job inevitably forcing them into poverty, or the immigrants come poor, meaning that the United States of America is importing poverty. According to Edwin S. Rubenstein, “Immigration increases poverty in two ways: a) by increasing labor market competition it lowers wages for native born workers, forcing more of them into poverty; and b) the immigrants themselves are often poor. The U.S. is literally importing poverty. (The Negative Economic Impact of Immigration on America)” The evidence shows that foreigners hurt the economy in more than one way. Immigration also affects more than just the other immigrants and themselves.

Immigrants change American culture, this is not always a positive thing. Experts agree, “Trump says that immigration is not "good for our country" because it is "changing the culture." Trump said that immigrants change the fabric of a society’s culture. Technically, they do. (5 Ways Immigration Actually Benefits a Country's Culture.)” This shows that immigrants do in fact change the American ideal, culture and dream, and not always in a positive way. American culture is unique and built upon freedom, liberty and hard work, these are American ideals that should be protected and conserved through the years.

The truth is, some Americans support, Immigration helps the economy by increasing the labor force. They do this by providing necessary labor jobs. Experts agree, “Immigrants also make an important contribution to the U.S. economy. Most directly, immigration increases potential economic output by increasing the size of the labor force. (The Economic Benefits of Extending Permanent Legal Status to Unauthorized Immigrants)” This shows that Immigrants help the economy by providing necessary labor jobs. However, they are stealing jobs from nativeborns, and lowering the amount that they make because it is not as hard to find labor workers anymore,

To conclude, Immigration hurts the American economy. Immigration helps the economy by increasing the workforce, Immigration hurts the economy by increasing poverty in two ways, by all of them doing labor work decreases the need to pay them as much inevitably leading to poverty, also by arrive in poverty and stay that way, another way that Immigrants are bad for the American economy is that they change our culture. For these reasons, it is vital to control Immigration as it has a highly negative effect on the economy.
